Elegant and balanced. Ramstein Amber Lager has a rich malty aroma, a smooth toasty palate, and a fresh noble hop character. The richness and spiciness of our Amber Lager makes it a delicious accompaniment to a variety of foods. Ramstein Northern Hills Amber Lager is a great beer for any festive occasion.

Brilliant golden amber in color, topped with a pale tan head. Good lacing.

Classic malt profile, with a touch of Noble (or related, domestic) hop accent. Sweet-ish.

On the first sip this is smooth and malty, also plenty sweet - with just the barest touch of oxidation* - along a classic, mild hop bite at the end.

Perhaps not what the brewery was originally intending, but this is near enough to a Vienna lager** that it finds a favorable reception with me.

A fuller-bodied and better than average American Amber Lager, and difficult to find even in its hime state!

Worth trying if this style is for you (as it is for me) the beer equivalent of “comfort food” or home cooking.

*Notch on the label indicates this one as being best by 10/2020 (as there is no “21” on the year code), but it seems much fresher than a 5% beer which is almost a year out of code! Still, it probably within a few months of code, and the oxidation is minimal.

**Firebrick from August Schell is a go-to in that style — at least for me.

Clear dark amber. Around medium bodied as well as medium carbonation.
Aroma is malt forward followed by grain, bread and crust, honey like floral
Taste is very similar to aroma with malt taking the lead. Slightly sweet but enough hop bitterness to balance it out
Overall a delicious flavorful beer that I would look for again.

On-tap @ The River of Beer in Bloomingdale, NJ.

Deep amber with great clarity and a small white head that has poor retention. Mild caramel and toasted malt aroma. Earthy hops round things out. Flavor is subdued sweet malt and is pretty mild. Clean but could have finished drier. Medium-light bodied.

a: clear golden amber color. i poured aggressively, yet not much of a head on this one

s: caramel malt, tons of earthy grains, fresh bread, and lemongrass. there is a pretty noticeable lager smell in here as well

t: sweet malts, berries, caramel, big grains, and a very faint earthy noble bitterness towards the end. clean, crisp, and quick flavor

m: lighter side of medium. carbonation is mild

o: easy to drink, clean flavors, and well balanced. this is a real nice amber lager

Poured from the bottle into a Libbey style pilsner glass.

Is this ever a real good looker. Copper bright red body color, with excellent clarity and touches of tangerine orange edges. Fleeting two finger khaki colored head, with no lacing and a bit of creamy collar. Body color on this just sings.

Sticky and pasty yeast notes, with a touch of toasty and bready sweet caramel on the aroma. A good surprising banana like ester as well with this creamy quality coming out on the nose as well. Real nice.

Palate just brings the solid goods. Light bodied and extremely clean finish. Touches of caramel and toast in the mid palate, with an almost crispy light toffee quality. A good amount of banana sweetness in a lighter doppelbock like quality also comes out nicely. Some touches of cream and milky sweetness as well, and love the toasty brown bread like finish.

This is a real impressive amber lager, but I just wish the banana quality wasn't so noticeable.

I am big Boston Lager fan. I have now grown more into finding Vienna Lagers. I recently had Devils Backbone Bienna Lager and fell in love. This beer resembles the simplicity of a tasteful lager and delicious brew. With low to no hops, it has a caramel look and biscuit taste!
