Notes / Commercial Description:
Inspired by the authentic German Oktoberfest beer from the early 1900s. This amber lager has a rich malty aroma, a smooth toasty palate, and subtle noble hop finish. The richness and spiciness of this beer make it the perfect accompaniment to robust meats and grilled fare. Ramstein Oktoberfest is a great beer for any festive occasion.

Ruddy amber brown and a light tan head. Good balance batten malt and floral hops on nose. Caramel, grassy, bready, and a little toffee. Not as sweet on palate with a moderately strong noble hop grassy, floral underbody; lemony, almost tea like. Weighs a little heavy. Low carbonation.

On-tap @ Pilsener Haus in Hoboken, NJ.

Served in a traditional 1-Liter mug. Reddish-brown in color with a creamy, light brown head. Subtle aroma of caramel malts and floral hops. Soft carbonation and a slightly sweet finish. Full bodied for an Oktoberfest beer. I really enjoyed this and would consider it just as good of an option as Hacker-Pschorr, Ayinger, Paulaner, etc. Paired excellently with some grilled brats and sauerkraut.

On-tap poured into a nonic pint glass.

Appearance
Deep amber with a short head that dissipates quickly. Excellent clarity.

Nose
Sweet breads, biscuit, caramel and candy sugar.

Taste
Sweet brown breads and biscuity malts drenched in caramel and dusted with candy sugar. Touches of toast, brown sugar and cocoa. Has a very malty profile with no perceivable bitterness.

Mouthfeel
Medium bodied, smooth, oily and subtly crisp with carbonation.

Overall
An outstanding Oktoberfest! Seek it out if you're a fan of the style.

Growler-fill from the release party. Deep copper color with a couple fingers worth of foam. Pretty good head retention and sparse lace formation. Rich, malty aroma with a solid presence of caramel/toffee/butterscotch notes. Faint floral hop notes. Doesn't have the harmonious blend of noble hops and malty tones that the top marzens display.

The flavor profile is rich and malt-forward, but still balanced. Starts out fairly malty-sweet. Bitterness comes in mid-palate through to a clean, dry finish. Slick mouthfeel that could benefit from a bit more carbonation. Like liquid bread with a touch of honey. Some more hops to spice things up would take this up a notch in the flavor department.

This, like the Great Lakes Oktoberfest, is a robust take on the marzen style that sort of leans toward the maibock style. High Point / Ramstein does some really renditions of traditional German styles.
