Very pale almost white appearance. Lacks any hoppiness that APA's provide. Taste was very bland and had no complexity. Very disappointed in this entry from Bison.

Palo Alto Brewing Co. Hoppy Ending Pale Ale
A- Sweet head! Thick head retention, 1 ½ inch thick, delicate lacing. Yellow amber color, not completely clear

S- I don’t smell anything! Even after trying desperately to find something distinctive.

T- Just flat. Okay mouth, definitely not what you’d hope for from a pale ale.

Poured minimal head on a hazy, straw colored body.
The aroma is faint, but a little grain and lemon is there.
The taste is disjointed. Starts with mild lemon bitterness, moves to a strong, metallic bitterness at the end. Not particularly enjoyable.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
The bitterness at the finish lacked balance. Not sure I'm going to finish it.

Bought a case of this from Costco for like $15.99 I believe, at that price, who could resist giving it a try. Pours a decent yellow and golden color with professional grade clarity and a decent looking 2/5" white head. The aroma was disappointing, especially with a name like hop cuvee west coast etc. . . it was disappointing because it was almost completely devoid of hop aroma, like it became questionable whether any dry hopping occurred, much less an insufficient amount/variety.

The taste was pretty mundane, the usual light toasted pale malts and a Chico yeast probably, both ingredients which are largely mute in terms of flavors, very neutral. Bitterness seems to be around the 50ibu range, so it seems they definitely delved into some bittering hops, albeit of the non proprietary kinds. Slight amount of caramel in the body and mouth feel which doesn't lend itself to any dryness associated with the west coast reference in the name.

Basically this tastes like a beer I paid .75 a bottle for. Basically this is stuff for bargain basement Dads to brag on, that you paid $5 for Pliny, but they got the equivalent of bologna for less than a buck.

Handsome pour in the tall tumbler, with a big foam on the hazy golden brew. Spritzy on the tongue. Light body. Some grainy malt with a touch of sweetness.

Flavor is peculiar. Herbal and grainy. Finishes on a harsh note. A little sticky and resiny. Some decent aromatics to start, but the slide into terminal bitterness is less than drinkable.

From the 12 oz bottles purchased at Whole Foods in San Francisco

Bottle from Brewers Haven. Somewhat musty aroma, malty, bone dry finish. Chalky mouthfeel. Taste is malt and butter. Interesting mix.Trying to pull off a Belgian IPA, perhaps?

Clear amber colored ale with just a little chill haze. Small white colored head, pretty average looking.

The scent is light Northwestern style hop. Grapefruit and pine with a grassy scent you would expect from a noble hop variety. Mild toasted grain.

Starts out woody and dry with a mainly toasted grain flavor. Faint sweetness and medium level of bitterness. Pretty basic pale ale here, but it doesn't really standout as being something special.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall this is an OK APA. The problem with that is it just doesn't standout in anyway.

12 oz bought from "Lifesource" in Salem. $1.69 Poured into my favourite Santiam brewing nonic. Darker golden coloured body with a half inch white frothy head atop. Strange sort of composted soil aroma, some citrus hop..strange but not unpleasant. Taste has also some of the earthiness but its balanced by a bright citrus hoppiness..it actually works! Mouthfeel is fine honey smooth and long wet. A strange beer that was OK but might have been past its best
