The appearance was a murky dark orange close to brown color with a cap of a little white foamy head that fell off at a moderate pace. Not much lace. The aroma had some sweet malty tones of caramel/toffee, light nuts, some herbal to grassy hop character and ended with a little bit of earthiness. The flavor was malty dry sweet with the herbal and earthy components trying to blend but mostly stayed somewhat separated. Lingering aftertaste of the maltiness. Long malty finish. The palate was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt low but expected. ABV felt secure and expected. Overall, pretty decent beer to me as it seemed clean, but also didn’t have the peat or smoke I normally associate with the style, so that kinda takes a little bit of a hit.

A: slight haze; medium brown with orangish mahogany at the edges; 1 finger light brown head that receded to a thin collar; no lacing;

S: dried fruit - fruit cake;

T: dark fruit up front; sweet malt in the middle; a somewhat harsh nutmeg/all spice taste on the finish; mild bitterness at the end;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: the finish was a turn off for me;

Draught: This one pours a clear, dark copper color. There was a small off white head. It has a good malty nose. Caramel, toffee, some fruits. The taste is good. Just a bit more than medium bodied. Toffee, caramel, a hint of chocolate, maybe some raisins. Some hop notes also that kept the sweetness down. Nice.
