Maybe I got a bad batch but this was quite average. Little to no nose, weak tasting hop profile and just meh. I love Bear Republic but this one not so much. I will have to revisit just to make sure my buds aren't fooling me.

Not feeling this one as much for some reason. It just had a overall unpleasant bitterness. Nose has a fair amount of citrus and pinnaple in it but there is a ever present stringent bitterness that consumes my mouth on every sip. Decent size malt presence that attempts to mellow the brew out but overall my particular glass was a sharp pungent and tad bit boozy mess. I will revisite again in the future.

Golden with a slight haze. Quickly receeding head. Sweet pineapple and citrus scent on this beer(really inviting). Good IPA flavor, slightly sweet to start with slight fruit and citrus then moving to a piney, citrus bitter finish. Decently carbonated and medium in thickness. Overall this is a pretty well done IPA.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 6/27/2017. Pours fairly crystal clear medium golden/yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense a fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big passion fruit, papaya, guava, peach, pineapple, mango, melon, berries, lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, orange peel, light pepper/pine, cracker, rye bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/fruity hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge passion fruit, papaya, guava, peach, pineapple, mango, melon, berries, lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, orange peel, pepper, pine, cracker, rye bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind/grassy bitterness and rye spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of passion fruit, papaya, guava, peach, pineapple, mango, melon, berries, lemon, tangerine, grapefruit, orange rind, pepper, pine, cracker, rye bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/fruity hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and no lingering hop/rye astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from lingering bitterness, quickly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.5%. Overall this is an incredible IPA. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/fruity hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink; despite the increasingly drying/resinous finish. Very dank, piney, and fairly juicy on hops; with just enough malts for bitterness balance. The rye works really well with the herbal/peppery background qualities of the hops, but never feels too spicy. A highly enjoyable offering.

This beer pours a clear orange gold with an average head. The aroma is very tropical with guava, passion fruit, pineapple, pink grapefruit. and kiwi. The flavor is semi-sweet, with very soft bitternes, and flavors of passion fruit, gusva, pineapple, watermelon, salad greens, and a slightly more bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with bright carbonation. Overall this is a boldly flavoredbeer with minimal bitterness. Very enjoyable.

3-14-17 - Pi day in Healdsburg! On tap at the brewery and served in a pint glass. Dark Orangish color with yellowish head. Great hop aroma and taste at 100+ IBU. So tasty that I got a growler fill to go.

Best by date of 05/30/17 ink stamped near bottom of bottle below the label. Amber color with a slight haze. A finger of head forms but falls away very quickly. A little bit of sticky lacing is left down the glass. Very strong hop aroma. I pick up mango, citrus, peach, and passion fruit. Flavor is straight up West Coast IPA but using the latest hops. Tropical fruit flavor with some citrus. Not as dank as I expected. Bitterness is high with a relatively dry malt finish. But it keeps from getting too harsh on the palate. Nice body and nicely carbonated. Just enough carbonation to give it some pep but not fizzy.

Poured into a goblet. A mildly hazy amber-orange with a frothy off-white head. Great lacing. Nice bright citrus aromas with earthy tones, pine, and slight sweet malt. Just a tasty straightforward West Coast IPA with plenty of balanced citrus, pine, and earthy notes. A bitter melded with candied malt finish, if that makes sense. A beautiful IPA.

12 oz bottle poured into a shaker pint.

Appearance
Hazy, oily golden blonde with 1/2 finger of bone white head. Lightly carbonated with tons of yeast sediment.

Nose
Passion fruit, pineapple, peach, tangerine, honey, dank, and candy sugar.

Taste
Dank sappy pine. Peach rings, passion fruit, and pineapple. Tangerine and papaya rind. Light honey and a touch of biscuit. Residual pine, grapefruit, and candy sugars.

Mouthfeel
Medium bodied, semi-juicy, oily, bitter, and off-dry.

Overall
Super-solid! Tropical / stone fruit vibes with a candy like backbone.

If someone tells you this is a pretty beer, they'd be lying. Other than that, this beer is great. Pours a completely saturated with suspended particles, a nice amber hue with a good fluffy white head. Smells of tropical fruits and a hint of pine. Taste bursts with tropical fruits of mango and papaya, and is intensely bitter, nicely carbonated, and finishes dry. Overall, this is my kind of IPA. Like I said, not very pretty, but hits where it really counts. Cheers!

12oz brown bottle, sample from brewery.

Lacing is nothing short of epic, a nearly clear IPA to boot. Dank and all citrusy in the nose with suggestions of hemp seeds, orange pith, grapefruit peel, and white tea. Clean palate with a perfect amount of crispness, a bit of body shows there is just enough of a malt foundation to hold up against the onslaught of hops. By far one of the better IPAs i've tried in a good while. Kudos to Bear Republic for releasing yet another winner!!

No bottling date, but it certainly smells fresh

Appearance - Pours slightly hazy and golden yellow in color with a ton of sediment floating about. Off-white, two-finger width head that displays good retention before dissipating to a thin, consistent layer of suds.

Smell - Fresh picked citrus, leaf, lesser pineapple and a hint of spice make up most of the aroma.

Taste - Follows the nose. Aggressive citrus flavor hitting on notes of orange essence (juicy/oily/bitter), tangerine, grapefruit, leafy character and pineapple. Notes of black pepper spice and pine surface by mid-taste. Just a hint of wheat. The finish is bittersweet, but mostly ends with pith bitterness that lingers well into the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with bitey carbonation. Smooth, velvety texture with a crisp, mostly dry finish.

Overall - Wow. With all due respect to Racer 5, I think this is brew may be the best American IPA they make now. If I didn't know any better, I'd have guessed this to be a fresh hop IPA. The hop profile is that awesome.

12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip

A: Pours a bright golden orange with a bright white head, good amount of carbonation, decent head retention, a little hazy and lots of lacing.

A: Lots of grapefruit peel, touch of tropical notes like pineapple, good balance of malts, not getting any pine notes, citrus and tropical.

T: Like the nose, grapefruit peel, tropical notes of pineapple, moderate amount of citrus peel like bitterness, good balance of malts, dry finish with a mix of grapefruit peel and tropical lingering in the aftertaste.

M: Very smooth and creamy with a dry finish, good amount of carbonation, doesn't have that raked tongue feeling I've gotten from other IPAs.

O: Another solid beer from Bear Republic, leans on the citrus peel/zest side with a touch of tropical notes, drinks very easy with a great finish, definitely going to pick this up again.

On-tap at Heinen's in University Hts., Ohio

Pours golden with a white head that leaves nice retention and lacing. The aromas are subtle with some tropical notes and bready cracker notes. Malts do their thing. Everything seems to come alive in the flavor department. Lots of bright citrus and tropical notes. Grapefruit seems to lead the way. Lots of fresh pine too. The malts are there but seem to take a backseat. The hops definitely shine. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is nice. It's medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Very smooth and easy to drink.

This is a nice IPA. They do a nice job of showcasing mosaic hops. Well crafted and enjoyable stuff.

On Tap at Bruski’s Burgers & Brew – Scripps Ranch, CA
Full pint – 09/04/15

Heard this the same recipe used for the Churchill’s Pub Anniversary IPA now in full rotation but I could be wrong

Light straw – pale gold with halfway decent clarity. A touch of haze struck to it. Effervescent with a small crown of egg white foam. Light dotting and patch work of lace recorded.
Smells and tastes much like the Churchill Anniversary with loads of Mosaic hops present. Grapefruit, pine, herbal tropics and dank all wrapped up into one. A touch of pale malts – very light and cracker like with a dry and crispness in the finish. More grapefruit citrus twist with green berry, melon, dank nuggets, tropic flora, mango/papaya, and pine. Quite the arrangement of flavor hops. Malt is just a support character of sugary cracker. Moderate amounts of actual bitterness with the alcohol completely well masked.
I dig the Hop Shovel. Very tasty brew. A total crusher.

Had this on 2016-07-10 I Marietta, PA at the Railroad House

A - Clear gold with a 1-finger white head and good lace.

S - Peach, Mango, honey, light dank. Not real strong.

T - Hop forward dank and pine, then peach and grapefruit, cracker, mild earthy spice. Quite bitter finish that lingers.

M - Medium body and carbonation. Creamy and prickly.

O - The too-bitter finish takes away from the fruit flavors. Decent brew anyway.

Appearance: dark golden yellow with a nice 2" head.

Smell: citrus was upfront and easy to detect.

Taste: caramel, grapefruit, orange, pineapple, and a nice hearty bitterness.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp throughout. Citrus lingers in the aftertaste.

Overall: a real easy to consume IPA. It was a surprise to see a new BR beer on draft in a local bar, and it was very good.

a couple of new and tasty beers from bear republic have shown up in the market lately, and for that i am grateful. its been awhile since i had anything new from them, still rocking it, thats for sure. this might be a little on the generic side, at least these days since everyone and their brother is making a fruity tasting west coast style ipa, but this is a good one as they go. a little haze to its glowing orange body, and a less impressive head than i hoped for, but it looks nice enough. smells like mango and orange, definitely the fruity side of hops, with the only real sweetness coming in the middle from the grain and the oils, and only average bitterness on the back end. it tastes and feels bigger than it is, maybe a little filling, especially with less than fully ideal carbonation, but the hop profile here is what makes it for me. i like the fruity complexion, not overly tropical or citrus forward, but kind of the best of both worlds there. fresh too, man, the hops are just bursting and juicy. this is what ive always thought these guys have done best, and this is another fine example of that. i hope it gets bottled, i think with better carbonation this would be exceptional.

Came in a standard pint a deep rich golden with a full one finger white head atop.Pure grapefruit in the nose....deep grapefruit rind, quite sharp but very appetizing.Grapefruit is large on the palate but there is more of a juicy citric element to go along with it even a bit of pine, mild biscuit sweetness underneath. No holds barred here,if you are a fan of the sharp grapefruit flavors unhinged than you will like this,I loved it.

On-tap at THG.

Served a lightly opaque golden with a thing greasy collar and super oily off-white head that left sheets of greasy lace down the glass. Nose is leafy with a kiss of citrus. Super bitter. Slight mint. Bready. Kind of a muddy doughy bitter taste. Greasy and slick mouthfeel, super hop oil greasy, medium-fully body, smooth carbonation. Would drink again, but not my favorite from BR.

On tap at Newhall Refinery in Newhall, CA.

Pours a hazy gold with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, and grapefruit juice aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, grapefruit juice, and slight pine needle flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

Serving type: on tap.

On tap at K&B wine cellars.

L: murky golden-orange with a nice head that leaves lots of lacing.

S: an overload of peaches, tangerine, pineapple, and some herbal/grassy aromas.

T: orange peel, biscuity sweetness, tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, wheat malt shining through.

F: moderate carbonation leaves a soft, medium to ill bodied feel, with a light lingering bitterness.

O: if I didn't know better, I'd say this is a hopped Wheat, with a prominent wheat character and very murky. Nevertheless, it's a thoroughly enjoyable furry and citrus-loaded IIPA that I would gladly have a gain.

Lighter color than expected.
