Himbeer WeisseHimbeer Weisse
Notes: A traditional Berliner Weisse: mixed fermentation with Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus. The raspberries were fermented directly with the beer brew. This leads to a vivid red-pink color and lush flavors: our Himbeer Weisse is fruity-sour, refreshing, complex.

On tap at the Bavarian Lodge.

Light pink, cloudy-clear. Tart raspberries on the nose. Tart raspberries on the taste with a decently tart flavor. Mild wheat malt backbone. Raspberries are well integrated. Nice fruited Berliner from Germany.

On tap at Armsby Abbey in Worcester, MA.

This one pours a light and clear pinkish-red, with a small head and lots of lacing.

This smells like raspberry skins, lemon, wheat, and white wine.

This works fairly well for me. It’s tart and juicy raspberry up front, with no result sweetness, along with lemon and a very light funk. There’s a touch of wine, too.

This is very light bodied, airy and crisp, with a nice snap of carbonation and a high level of drinkability.

It’s nice to try a fruited Berliner from actual Germany - this is well balanced and tasty and drinkable.
