Pure black & thick. Caramel colored head. Coffee, chocolate, malts dominate the nose. The first sip doesn't disappoint, all the flavors are there. Served a liitle cold for a stout but warms up nicely. Nice creamy mouthfeel & very drinkable.

Surprisingly sweet upfront, unexpected but appreciated. Very thick, chewy brew. Great alcohol level creates a warming treat.

Served in a pint glass at Flossmoor Station 1/27/07.

A: Pure black and opaque. Dark brown one finger head that recedes to a dark brown ring in under a minute. Sticky dark brown lace, too.

S: Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, and oatmeal.

T: Rich flavors of roasted malt, smooth oatmeal, coffee, bitter chocolate, and a hint of green hops in the finish.

M: Thick and rich and quite creamy.

D: Excellent drinkability. This is one of my favorite locally made stouts and it's quite possible to drink this one all day long.

Served in a nonic pint glass at the brewpub.

We need more beers with baseball references. This one pours a ruby-tinted black-brown topped by a finger of tan foam. The nose comprises chocolate syrup, roasted malts, light molasses, and brown sugar. The taste holds notes of roasted malts, cocoa powder, light molasses, brown sugar, and toasted oats. The body is a straight medium, with a very light moderate carbonation and a very smooth feel. Overall, a nice sessionable stout, something I could easily see drinking quite often if around here more.

Brown head kicks up a few larger bubble than an average stout, and fizzes away quickly, I had no lace. It has that watery but substantial mouthfeel you usually get with a good hand-pulled English beer. Taste reveals complex coffee and cocoa notes, a subtle suggestion of whisky, and a warm oatmeal feel. It gives one that feeling only those who have become acclimated to a slightly oily stout can enjoy. It's bitter, but not hoppy-bitter. I'm left with an impish grin… or am I just puckered up?

On tap at Flossmoor Station, and served in a shaker. This stout poured a deep black color with a thick, creamy, tan head that lasted. Some excellent lace was left around the glass. The aroma consisted of roasted malts, chocolate, and a bit of coffee. The flavor was very roasty with notes of chocolate and coffee lingering at the end. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with light carbonation. A nice stout from Flossmoor.

On tap at the brewpub. This is going to be their new regular stout according to the server, they need to do some tweaking before they do that...A dark brown pour with a light tan head that offers nice retention...The aroma is really nice, has a ton going on, light coffee, oats, sweet cream comes through to balance the coffee. Seems to be a light session stout...The taste is let down, I was expecting a lighter tasting stout, and it was light in taste and feel, but the problem is taste, just tastes bad. Light coffee comes through still but the balance of sweetness is gone, no cream at all, light coffee start to finish, its just boring!

A session stout in the makings, balance out the taste more and this will be fine. Try it now and hopefully later when they've improved.

Reviewed from notes.
Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head. Nose is pretty plain with some lightly-roasted malt, a bit of roast, and some toasted bread. Pretty good feel and body, but overall there really isn't anything that's terribly impressive or out of the ordinary about this one, though the 5% abv is nice.

Irresponsible tick #13

A) Deep, dark brown. One finger head of full foam. Very good retention; the head lasts a long time. Lots of lace, too.

S) Simple aroma of roasted/burnt coffee. Dark grains.

T) The taste has a weird, slyly burnt coffee taste. Extremely bitter cocoa.

M) Medium-full body. Silky smooth feel with low carbonation.

D) It's decent but works better with ice cream.
