On tap at Flossmoor Station and served in a shaker. This beer poured a brownish/red color with a small, creamy tan head the quickly faded down to a thin layer of foam. Some nice lace was left around the glass. The aroma was made up of some strong citrus notes and some light roasted caramel malt sneaking in at the end. No wheat was evident. The flavor was nicely balanced. It had a good hop kick, but was not overly bitter, with the caramel malt keeping everything in check. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with minimal carbonation. Another very enjoyable creation from Flossmoor.

The "Red Ghost" was caught on tap @ Maproom 9/17/07...

A high clarity rosy tone topped with a dense cap of foam. Rings and delicate strands of lacing look like a row of fangs on the rim of the glass.

Aroma is lightly malty with a citrus hint. Hops are evident at this point.

Juicy Amarillo hops take centerstage, insistent citrus with a fading bitterness in the finish. Brewer's notes also mention Summit & Centennial varieties. There's a hint of apple from the yeast, and a nice underlying maltiness. Well crafted and balanced, have one pint at the minimum...while I go back for seconds.

Served in a 12oz tumbler at Flossmoor Station 8/18/07. Thanks to HeatherAnn for the assist.

A: Served a lovely, reddish, honey-color. Creamy one-finger head that leaves a lot of lace in its' wake.

S: Citrus hops at the forefront with sweet malt in the background.

T:See above.

M: Prickly and crisp and quite spicy on the tongue.

D: Very refreshing. I found this to be almost like a distant relative of FFF GumballHead. Although this is darker and not as lemon-y citrus-y, it's similar in that it's a hoppy american wheat beer. I'm really starting to enjoy this style of beer!

I had this on tap during my first-ever visit to the Map Room in Chicago.

Appearance was a red hazy with medium head. Aroma was a lot of sweet hoppiness, like an APA. Taste was not the sweet hoppy I expected, rather this beer was more a dry bitterness with a lot of fruitiness, but not the kind of fruitiness I usually associate with hops (that Cascade citrus-fruitiness). It was a more full-bodied fruitiness that hits you in the front of the mouth rather than the hoppy citrus-ness that hits you at the back back of the mouth. There was a deep bitterness that hits the back of the mouth providing a chalky and rough mouthfeel. Not exactly a delight in the mouth, but not bad.
