On tap at Flossmoor Station and served in a snifter. This beer poured a slightly cloudy mahogany/red with a few golden highlights and a thin, whispy head of off-white foam. Surprisingly good lacing was left behind. The aroma of the beer was made up of light cherries, wood, and a slight vinous note. The flavor was mellow cherries, pears, and lightly acidic. I was hoping for more of the sour cherries to show up. The mouthfeel was crisp and medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Fairly subtle and straightforward, but still a decent brew. Not nearly as tasty as the De Zuidentrein Frambozenbier.

On tap at the brewery in a tulip glass.

The beer is a cloudy light brown color with a hint of ruby. Some khaki-colored bubbles ring the surface. The aroma is dominated by strong cherry notes with only a hint of caramel and a slight sweet alcoholic smell that is a little like bourbon.

The taste is strong tart, sour cherries with a little sweet caramel up front. This is followed by a tart, somewhat bitter cherry flavor with just a hint of clove and spice. The finish is dry.

The mouthfeel is medium with high carbonation.

The drinkability on this one is very high. The dry, sour finish is very refreshing and leaves you wanting more.

Bought this in April at the brewpub and opened it last Saturday. Pours a reddish-tan and forms a fluffy white head. Head goes away and doesn't trace much at all. Smells slightly bready with fruit hints. It's hard to distinguish wich fruits though. The taste is a little tart but not too overwhelming. I would suspect the aging has laid it down somewhat. Good, balanced taste of fuit and ale. Mouthfeel seems to pucker your cheeks if you're not ready for a sour ale but fairly drinkable. share this one.
