500 ml can from Costco; part of beer advent calendar.
Canning date on bottom of can: July 2015 / BB date on bottom: Sept. 2016

Appearance: yellow fizzy beer with a weak white head.

Aroma: pleasing, mild mix of hops and light, bready malts. Hop dominant. Typical for style.

Flavor: More malt forward than the aroma but still near equal contributions from each until the lightly hoppy aftertaste. Mild bitterness.

O: a solid version of the style, despite its appearance.

500ml can, day 21 of the 2015 Costco Beer Advent Calendar - and back to more offerings of the H. Egerer brewery, which now amount to 13 out of the 21 thus far - so much for variety, part sieben.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with four fingers of puffy, rocky, and somewhat bubbly eggshell white head, which leaves some sparse confetti explosion lace around the glass as it slowly sinks away.

It smells of semi-sweet, grainy and doughy pale malt, underripe apples and pears, a bit of biscuity white cracker, and understated leafy, weedy, and grassy noble hops. The taste is gritty, grainy pale malt, salted breakfast cereal, muddled pome fruit, a twinge of benign citrus, ethereal petrol astringencies, and more plain leafy, earthy, and dead grassy hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly robust in its fizzy and frothy measures, the body an adequate medium weight for the style, and actually quite smooth, with a small airy creaminess arising as things warm. It finishes on a strong drying trend, the biscuity character predominating, alongside a wee hint of alcohol heat.

Another decent Oktoberfest brew, plopped right down in front of me in the middle of December, where absolutely no-one is sitting outside on rough-hewn tables hoisting big mugs to each other's, er, 'health'. At any rate, this is still good, and a welcome break from yer typical holiday fare - and what's with all the coffee-flavoured stuff out there right now?

Pours a clear amber with a finger and a half of white head. Head retention is fair with fair lacing left behind. Aroma is biscuit, and nut malts with a hint of clove. It smells basic, but slightly sweet. Flavor profile is biscuit, bread, and nut malts with a slight clove, yeasty finish. Mouth feel is medium-thin with a little bit of fizziness in the texture. Overall, a fair festival beer. It's simple, without many remarkable qualities, and yet fair enough for long days of gulping.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 16oz can.

From the advent box. Poured into a snifter. Nice looking beer: crystal clear copper-amber color with a thick off white head. Great foam retention. Faint aroma, mainly bready malt and some floral notes. On the palate, a decent bready flavor along with faint caramel and toasted malt. Moderate floral bitterness. It felt a bit watery and slightly thin. Not bad.

500 ml can poured into pint glass. Advent calendar day 17. Yep. A couple days off. Pours a dark clear orange with amber highlights and a two finger fluffy white head that recedes at moderate pace. Aroma is of grains, some sweet malt, nuts, and a metallic tinge. Taste is a mixture of bread/grains and some mild sweetness and a touch of bitterness on the finish. The feel and carbonation is medium light. A drinkable Marzen , if subtle in its approach.
