500 ml can, canned on 07/01/2015. EXP 09/01/2016 printed on the bottom of the can. Acquired this oddity as part of a mixed six pack at the local Binny's. A bit of a mystery beer to me, it has no real information regarding the beer itself or the brewers. 'dunkle Weisse' with some more text written in German on the can.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a ruddy caramel brown-ish colored body, about a finger and a half of creamy khaki colored froth that leaves some okay bubbly lacing behind.

S - Aroma is of cream, nuttiness, some mild spicing, some subtle fruity esters like banana / pineapple, and a bit of dusty musty malt content. Some mild alcohol fumes detectable. Yeast.

T - Taste follows the nose - a creamy, nutty, yeasty flavor. Mild notes of indistinct spicing, cinnamon(?), nutty malts, cream, and some fruity banana like notes. Simple, yet actually very tasty.

M - Exceptionally smooth & creamy. Very easy-drinking stuff. Medium-light bodied with good carbonation.

Overall, a simple yet pleasantly well-crafted example of the style. Would recommend drinking if you happen to stumble across a can of this like I did.

500ml can, day 13 of the 2015 Costco Beer Advent Calendar - so, by my count, H. Egerer has produced 9 out of 13 brews thus far - so much for variety, part drei.

This beer pours a clear, dark red-brick brown colour, with three fingers of puffy, rather loosely foamy, and mostly fizzy beige head, which blows off fairly quickly, leaving very little in the way of lace anywhere in the environs of the glass.

It smells of bready, lightly roasted wheat malt, banana cream, earthy yeast, ethereal white pepper and clove, maybe a suggestion of musty chocolate bars, and generic leafy and weedy noble hop bitters. The taste is more bready, lightly caramelized and toasted wheat graininess, warm cocoa-tinted milk, hard to discern earthy spices, and a generic browned banana and neutered citrus fruitiness.

The bubbles are pretty understated in their plain and listless frothiness, the body an adequate medium weight, and generally smooth, but with a wee clamminess evolving as things warm. It finishes sweet, the darkened wheat malt having shed most o' the roast, and that bruised banana character staking its claim.

Overall, this is a simple, and hard to get worked up about version of the style - nothing really seems off, but that's hardly high praise. And as for the winter associations here, I'm starting to think that the proclamation, in German, on the label of being 'ideal for the cold time of the year' is all there is to that.

500 ml can stamped on the bottom of the can with a production date of July 2015 and a EXP(iration) date of Sept. 2016.

Appearance - hazy brown body. The body is topped by a large but weak, off-white head that leaves decent lacing.

Aroma: pronounced wheat with some banana, yeast and faint spices.

Flavor: Wheaty and yeasty with subtle hops. About equal bitter/sweet balance. Mild baked bread and banana flavor in the aftertaste.

Feel: Light-medium body that a bit watery; medium carbonation.

Overall: just OK.

Under name "Dunkle Weisse" at 5% ABV.
Hazy brown with moderate beige head, decent retention.
Smell - typical weizen, but more on the spicy side, toffee, cocoa.
Taste - caramel, spices, wheat traits, cream.
Smooth, medium-bodied, soft carbonation. Pretty good.

Not sure if i had a bad can but it had absolutely no head after the pour and was also very flat. It had an okay first taste but the after taste was very metallic. Nice flavor of spices initially but a disappointing finish. The last third was so flat I poured it out.

Appearance: Pale golden in color, with slight haze, seemingly light in color for the style, with a small, fine-beaded head, which soon collapses to a scattering of foam and a fine ring about the glass wall. Fat bubbles cling to the glass wall and occasionally drift lazily to the surface.

Aroma: Mild aroma with notes of pear and apple, in particular the pear is notable, hints of alcohol, rather faint pale malt and a bit of tangy wheat. A mild bread note carries throughout the taste. As the taste progresses, there is a mild leafy hop presence. Finishes with a bit of spiciness.

Taste: Opens with a mildly tart note, soon followed by mildly bitter apple rind and pears. Midway through, the taste is a bit earthy.

Mouth feel: Soft, and perhaps just a touch thin, with very slight carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: Overall, this presents more like a Hefeweizen than a Dunkelweizen. Still, it is not bad, by any means.

Presentation: Packaged in a 500 ml, 16.9 ounce aluminum can, served in a Duvel tulip. The "best by" date is 05/2021.
