A - At first, it pours a very clear dark brown, with a slight red tint. At the bottom, there is a decent amount of yeast, which I added to the beer. Makes it moderately cloudy.

S - Yeasty, slight smell of bread or biscuit, also a little banana and some funky smells.

T - Sweet banana bread, grain, maltyiness, but also a little dark fruit.

M - On the fuller side, but very nice for the style.

O - Not bad. Very interesting flavor.

This beer is a murky, chocolate-milk colored brown. Muddy, yeasty, and sporting a towering head, the beer is nicely attractive. The aroma is full of the usual twangy, wheat character and citric smell of a weisse. Lots of yeast, a touch of pale malt. Still, it's not particularly interesting...average at best. The taste is a bit more spritzy and citric, with a little pepper, spice, and light roasted notes underneath. Nice. Spritzy and enjoyable mouthfeel.

This beer is an opaque medium-dark brown, clouded with just a bit of sediment. It forms a big light brown head that fades after some time and leaves little spotty lacing just here and there. Better lacing and retention would make for a good appearance, but it's above average nonetheless.
The nose offers something interesting, perhaps the mingling of particular dark grains with the malts used as well as the wheat giving it something unique to me; it's something reminiscent of, but not quite, a grain like rye, and I'm imagining a ball of dough that will bake into a cross between rye and sourdough loaf. There's a it of yeast with a ghost of dark fruits and perhaps clove. This is a nice aroma that could use more strength.
The same could be said of the flavor. There's a bit of peppery spiciness riding a light herbal hops bitterness, but this seems like an under-malted beer to me. Wheat and the grains come through, but it really comes off more as herbal and tangy than anything else.
An initial smoothness rides together with a crisp nip up front. It's pretty thin, though not heinously so. There's enough going on that it's interesting, but not particularly so.

A: It is a very dark brown, the color of black tea, with a thick foamy head with the consistency of soap. This has no real visibility, and appears very hazy. It has a nice frothy lacing.

S: It has a very rich smell to it, with a mixture of fruits and some bread-like scents. There is a caramel scent as well. The fruit scents are similar to a dried date.

T: I get some of that fruit flavor similar to what is in the scent. The flavor is very mellow, and has more of those caramel flavors as well. I get a slight metallic tinge.

M: The mouthfeel is light bodied, leaning to the medium but not there. There is ample carbonation.

O: Overall this was an alright beer, but not spectacular. With these imports it can be hit or miss, and is never a really good judgement of what the beer really tastes like. I probably wouldn't pick this one up again.

A- 3.5 Muddy, hazy brown in color. There's a huge frothy tan head on the pour and it settles to a half finger throughout. The lacing is a little spotty and slippery.

S- 4 Right up front in the nose is a combo of semi-sweet caramel and hops. There's a bit of wheat present as well. It is a good blended aroma.

T- 3.5 There's a malt sweetness that is tempered by a wheat and grain-like finish. Unfortunately there's a metallic taste in this one common to many sips. The brew doesn't really have any bold flavors.

M- 3.5 Despite its monster head on the pour this actually feels under-carbonated. It's light in body and kind of watery.

D- 3.5 Not a bad brew by any means, but not all that exciting either. I'm a fan of dark wheats, so I had my hopes up for this one. It has some good things going on but isn't very complex. It's light and would be easy enough to drink a few, though I don't see myself wanting more than the big single.

Ah. The real deal from Germany. This is a great style, done well. As I like, this beer has a very interesting aroma. Fruity, pungent. But the taste is more reserved. The after taste comes back to where the aroma is.

All in all, a very drinkable, quality experience. The brew is quite mirky looking and the lacing peels right down the glass (does not stick).

Moosbacher Schwarze Weisse Dark Wheat Beer, Private Landbrauerei Scheuerer, Moosbach, Germany, 92709. Since 1887. Product of Bavaria, Germany.

Clear, caramel-y brown tint, lush, lace-leaving cocoa-toned head.

Sweet, cola-like nose. Hints of raisins and plum. Malty, with a slice of spice.

Tasting it: Clean and even malty mouthfeel. Flavors of cocoa and nuts. Minor hops. Smooth wheat character comes through, very scrumptious.

This beer was inhabiting the slot on the shelf usually reserved for another beer that I was looking for so it caught my attention and I gave it a shot. The POP that was released upon opening scared the hell out of my wife and made my youngest kid cry!!! I wasn't expecting that, or the volcanic eruption that followed!!!

As is typical with Hefeweizen this beer has high carbonation, but this one has clearly taken top honors in that department. It took me about 3-4 minutes to get it into the glass. The head was enormous with large, irregular, soapy bubbles. Although there was not a lot of yeast sediment present in the bottle, the beautiful flavor and aroma of Bavarian yeast shine through regardless.

Ranks as a top 5 in my Dunkelweizen list.

Pours a clear golden brown with a fairly thick pale tan head that hangs around for a little. Aroma is malty with a strong overtone of fruit, mainly apple, and a hint of spice. Flavor is malty and a little fruity, not very well rounded but still acceptable. Texture is quite fizzy, just a bit on the watery side, but it leaves behind a decent tingle. Overall, not too shabby.

500ml swing top bottle "Schwarze Weisse".From Capital Market, Salem.$3.49 Huge POP when the swing top is opened!!! HUge white head is released into my glass..rakes a while for it to calm down..not a good sign! When i can actually now see the beer its a redish amber colur..head is large and thickly frothy. Aroma is actually OK Bready, spicy yeasts, some barnyard and orange! Taste is pretty much the same as the aroma..kinda ends very abruptly though. Ok on the palate i actually liked the carbonation..very refeshing. Overall not great but certainlly not bad.

picked up for the hell of it as i needed a swingtop for a little experiment and this was 2.99 and i had not tried it. poured into a nonic on 1.14.10.

decent pour, nothing crazy with a dark amber, hazelnut color and a nice head that faded kinda quickly on me before i got to take a whiff of it. interesting aroma as i get roasted malts, light hops, touches of banana and clove, grasses and a touch of smoke, which all carries over into the flavor. nice balance here with tons of malts and a light fruit that keeps it all together quite well i have to admit. lots of grass and touches of banana and cereal grains seem to keep it going quite nicely. really cool little finish which is light and dry but pops a touch of brown sugar out of no where.

a touch unique for the style and I really liked it. would not mind doing this one again any day.

The Color is an amazingly dark amber color. not very see through at all. Very fizzy and an amazing german style head.
It has a nice vanilla taste to it. I'm getting a little bit of Banana as well. Lite toasted malts. little to no hop taste. It is very pleasant to drink.

Pours a shade of brown with an off-white head of about 1"that slowly dissipates. Smells malty/wheaty and a little of clove. Taste was pretty easy going but likeable. A slightly more potent taste wouldn't be a terrible thing. Has a fairly typical dunkel taste, just a little light. As others mentioned, it had a sort of tobacco aftertaste which really intrigued me, it is certainly different from other dunkels I have tasted. Mouthfeel is light with light carbonation. Overall this is an intriguing take on the dunkel style, but it could use a little more in the flavor department.

A: A deep brown color. Like heavy brewed iced tea. Huge head on this. Absolutely massive, and a bit tannish.

S: Malty at first. There is almost a hint of salt in the aroma. Some Bread like smells as well.

T: A nice bready beer. Grainy and wheat like. Fairly clean, with a subtle, but noticeable noble hop flavor.

M: Medium light in body. The carbonation is fairly high, but it works for the brew. There is a lovely clean feel to this.

D: Very drinkable. Well crafted, and it seems effortless in it's delivery. Not something that is a "wow" but something that is enjoyable, and solidly made.

Appearance - This is a foam monster of course with a nice, tanned head and a thick, hearty brown body.

Smell - The malts are really nice here at the nose and the light yeast compliment is enough to get a thumbs up from me. There's kind of a stale character here though that keeps me from wanting to dive right in.

Taste - Yeah this really doesn't produce at the taste. The wheat totally wimped out and the yeast is OK but just very light. There's no bready character to this at all and the finish just falls right off the table.

Mouthfeel - This is bigger than light-bodied but not medium and the carbonation is cheap and fizzy like an Alka-Seltzer.

Sinkability - I really enjoyed their Helles Lager but this completely missed the mark.
