Picked up a bomber from BevMo on 05/04/2018. No bottled date. 9.5% ABV. Indian Wells Brewing is located in Inyokern, California.

WARNING! -- this TIPA is a crazy foam bomb. Bomber literally exploded when I opened it. Very high carbonation -- 5+ fingers of soapy tan foam when poured. Color is a beautiful, hazy burnt orange. Lots of big sediment chunks. Smell has hints of hops, stone fruits and tropical fruits, but is otherwise indistinct. Taste is one-dimensional -- harshly bitter (probably due to the Warrior hops) with a slight malt backbone.

Crappy TIPA. Based on previous reviewers, this TIPA was apparently brewed better 3 years ago. Too bad it sucks now because of the awful soap-bomb problem.

Smell, taste, and mouthful is soap. Straight up dawn dish detergent. 2 sips and down the drain it went. Second taste was just to make sure I wasn't stupid. Never again.

Poured from a 22 oz bomber bottle.

L - Color is a deep gold, almost amber, with orange highlights. I t is just a tiny bit hazy. The head is off-white and fluffy, formed of large and small bubbles and lots of lacing

S - Aroma is a big blast of earthy/piney/grapefruity hops with a lesser aroma of malt in the background. Clean. Alcohol is not evident.

T - A harsh, huge hops bitterness is the biggest impression. The hops have an earthy, grapefruit flavor. There is some malt breadiness, but it is almost lost under the hops. No yeast or alcohol flavors stand out.

F - Somewhat thin body for a double IPA. Creamy carbonation. Super strong hops bitterness that hides the alcohol from the 9.5% ABV.

O - This is a well-made beer, but I find it one-dimensional. I'd prefer more malt to balance a double IPA.
