This beer caught me off guard in my local Whole Foods. It was cheap I think I paid 7 dollars for a six pack, not bad.

However the beer itself was barley worth 7 bucks. It had almost no distinct beer qualities to its smell. It pours ok, looks like a normal IPA, but nothing spectacular.

Its a balanced beer I will give it that. The beers abv is masked very much by the rest of the beer, it has a bud light like quality. Taste is not big, its very light and nothing sticks out in my mind about it being any good at all.

Ameni IPA (bought in December, 2012) has a medium, fluffy, off-white head, some good lacing left behind, and a mostly clear, orange-golden appearance. I can see no bubble streams. The aroma is of citrus, hop oil, caramel, bread, and bread crust. Taste is of the same, with some background, mild bitterness, brown sugar, and some odd apple notes. Mouthfeel is light and watery (as Indian Wells beers tend to be), and Ameni IPA finishes crisp, refreshing, and drinkable (very lager like). If this beer is actually five years old, it's still very good, although the hop bitterness may have faded to some extent. This comes across very much like an English IPA, rather that what one would expect to find from California.

08/05/08- Purchased at Whole Foods in San Mateo, CA.

Presentation- 12oz bottle with no freshness info. Poured into a standard pint glass.

Appearance- Copper colored pour. 1/4 inch head with light lace spotting.

Smell- Mostly caramel roasted malt with a touch of floral and grapefruit hops.

Taste- Driven by a mediocre flavored caramel malt and followed up by a pine-grapefruit flavored mini hop punch.

Mouthfeel- Medium to higher carbonation level with virtually no aftertaste whatsoever.

Drinkability- Bland and nothing special. Drinkable, but I wouldn't go out of your way to try it.
