Belgian style from a German brauerei? This bottle was purchased as a special offering form my local Edeka market, in a 750ml bottle with plastic resealable cork, and numbered for a limited edition. This bottle was listed as Nr. 2608, not sure of the total run (10,000?). Definitely different from anything I've tasted from a German brewery, but true to the Belgian/French Cru style. According to the label, they claim to use Trappist yeast (in english, no less?). Initial taste is sour, but warms to the taste buds after sitting and sipping. The high alcohol content isn't apparent at first, but slowly makes itself apparent. Pours a very murky copper, reminiscent of apple cider, short head and lightly carbonated. If you like this style, here is a fine example from a German brewer.
