500 ml swing-top bottle, poured into weizen glass:
Pours straw yellow - more hazy than clouded. A thin white bubbly head doesn't hold as long as expected, with minimal lacing.
The smelll is of strong banana - like a frozen banana candy. Clove and mild floral notes lend a nice spicing, while allowing banana to come through powerfully.
The taste is of sweet banana candy - banana strong. Clove, a mild floral touch and a citric tart touch give balance to the sweetness in the finish. Banana lingers through aftertaste.
Crisp and effervescent while maintaining a fuller light-body. Carbonation seems right, so I'm surprised that head doesn't hang on longer. Very smooth and refreshing.
A classic hefeweizen! Outside of rather lackluster appearance, this is what a solid hefeweizen should be - banana-ish, with clove and slight tart giving balance to sweetness. A refreshing, delicious, smooth HW!

Touring the place now, great historical tour of Hirsch in Wurmlingen. Two thumbs up for the Dark Weizen Beer!
