A: PITCH BLACK. Big thick, frothy, tan head. The head stayed for a good 3-5 mins too. No lacing.

S: Molasses and molasses. Dark brown sugar. Roasted brown sugar. Alcoholy. Wood and vanilla. Roasty goodness.

T: Bitter bread on the front. Malts and molasses on the back end. Woody. Slight smokey-roasted malts.

M: Very thin indeed.

O: Meh.

thanks redliner8!

500ml bottle served in a Unibroue snifter.

Pours a very dark brown with a nice tan head. The head is not very durable, but does leave decent lacing.

Aroma: sweet; faintly boozy; prunes and other dark fruits with baked bread.

T: Plenty of dark fruits and light alcohol esters. Excellent finish and aftertaste, where the generous dose of dark malt comes out in a flush at the end and lingers nicely afterwards. High ABV is partly hidden. A bit sweet.

M: Medium body; smooth yet some liveliness from the moderate carbonation.

O: this beer has a boozy character I often notice in Eastern European beers, at least with higher ABVs; this is usually a weakness but it fits in well with the flavor profile in this nice Baltic Porter. Improved with warming. Well worth seeking out.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a glass mug.

A- Pours a dark black with a fat bubbly frothy tan head. It laces the edges of the glass when the glass is tilted.

S- Smells strongly of chocolate and cocoa nibs. Malty with a slight hoppiness that has the aroma of fresh greens and fresh spring water. Slight caramel notes.

T- Very rich with a slight smokiness. Has a very chocolaty sweet start with some espresso and coffee notes. Has a bitter hop finish that melds with notes of nutty coffee. Very strong flavor.

M- High carbonation yet smooth. The finish coats the inside of the mouth.

O- Very strong and flavorful. I am very surprised by this porter. The price definitely cannot be beat. I've had quite a few porters and this is one of my new favorites.

This poured a very dark almost black brown.

I could smell roasted malts, coffee and a bit of hops.

The taste was caramel, toasted malts, a little bit of chocolate and little bitter. Surprisingly no alcohol taste considering this is 9.5 abv.

Felt smooth in the mouth with a little carbonation.

This is is the first baltic porter that I have tried and it was pretty good. I will definitely look out for others in this style. It was also good value at $2.99 for a 500ml bottle.

Pours a clear dark-brown color with a short lived head that recedes to the surface leaving atolls and swirls. No lacing that I could see.

Nose produced a fragrant aroma of hops, caramel and a little toasted malt.

Flavor was that of hops bitterness, licorice, caramel, butterscotch, some raisin and finally toasted malt.

Mouthfeel- the overall flavor profile seemed thinner than I would have liked-- finish ended quickly leaving little trace of the beginning of the flavor on the palate.

Overall this beer is an enjoyable porter- if you see it available worth a taste.

Dark brown with copper at the edges, the most impressive thing about the appearance of this one is the creamy, 2" tall, cream-colored head. The rings of lace are quite nice as well.

I caught the malty aroma as I was pouring and immediately sunk my nose into the glass. Coffee and cream came back with some cocoa notes and a hint of spicy hops.

The taste improves as it warms, as with so many beers. Burnt coffee and toffee up front with licorice in the middle. Bitterness from spicy hops and the roast follow. The alcohol is barely detectable in flavor, but there. A nice, smooth body.

Out of a bottle this beer was a nearly opaque brown/black color with two fingers of delicate, brown-tinted foam. The fizz soon receded to a collar that left broken curtains of sliding lacing. The aroma was light, mostly roasted malt and hints of coffee. The flavors were much more distinct and very ‘dark.’ I tasted lots of roasted malt, blackened bread, hints of toffee, coffee, bittersweet chocolate and a lingering note of carbon and burnt toast. The mouthfeel was smooth, the body medium/full and the carbonation light enough to add to the richness of the experience. A robust Baltic porter that speaks of long, Polish, winter nights…
