500ml can from my local LCBO, served in a pint. Grabbed it because of the fascinating art on the can.

Look: Golden color with a finger and a half of white head that almost instantly dissipates. 3.5

Smell: First comes a piney grass smell, followed by earth undertones. Wasn't expecting the piney grass smell but with my second smell I actually kind of liked it. Very different. 2.75

Taste: The initial taste is exactly as described in smell, pine and grass. Followed by a sweetness that I cant describe, and finishing with a kick that almost reminds me of malt liqueur. 2.75

Feel: Almost zero carbonation. soft feel. 3.25

Would buy this again, but could not drink it regularly. The earthiness is both desirable and problematic.

I found Polish beers are always a bit tougher on the feel for me. But I also chug a lot. But I didn't chug this one. That being said, it is probably the best feel I've had for a Polish beer, and upon trying it, tears formed in my eyes because no aftertaste remained. Poland is truly not yet lost. 6 Smirnoff Ices/10

Beer number two from Mom's trip to Poland.
The beer pours from it's 500 ml can a bright, shiny gold. A vigorous pour generates a modest white foam, very evenly bubbled, quickly settling into a tight, even coating. Bright, brilliant clarity,. Good head retention, never weakening to less than a thick collar, leaving lazy blobs of lace clinging to the glass.
The aroma is mostly hops. Spicy, with a metallic, soapy bite that's familiar in a lot of polish brews. Not the cleanest, but there are some interesting scents with the traces of esters and phenols. A vague whiff of clove somewhere within the spicy/peppery depths of the hops. A bit of half eaten crabapple laying in the grass. Little presence to the malt, merely a vague, crunchy Grapenuts graininess.
The flavor opens up with a meek malt profile, sort of watery and thin, with a soft overtone of sweetened green apple. The green apple flavor rolls into the finish, rather soft and lacking that real crisp, grainy bite you get with german pils. More towards the softer, bohemian style, without the body. The finish is more or less all hops and apple, the malt flavor completely absent. Very nice spicy hopping that settles on the tongue and likes to hang around. A brush of clove just before the swallow, playing very well with the hopping. No metallic or soapy flavors, as were presented in the nose. Light bodied, with vigorous carbonation.
Aside from a rather thinnish body, this is a pretty nice pilsner. I'd place it more in the bohemian/czech style, with the soft roundness of flavor, but again, it could use body and a bit more malt presence. The bitterness is great, but the malt contributes very little flavor, especially in the finish. I actually enjoyed the flaws, the esters and phenols that contributed some extra fruitiness and clove-y notes. The high(-ish) alcohol may have something to do with that. I like it for what it is, rather than looking at it technically. A flawed, but good pilsner. I'd recommend it.

650ml bottle

This is the closest thing I have ever tasted to a European style macro ice beer. There's a lot of fruity esters in there, but lacking any sort of metallic taste or premonitions of an impending headache, I'll avoid making any direct comparisons to Key Ice, Bud Ice, Icehouse and the rest of the of the Motley Crew.

Aroma is lively and sweet, with some faint notes reminiscent of maraschino cherries. The aroma alone tells you to await a strong lager. Taste is far from offensive and is much more refined than its US trailer park brethren. Esters linger, but a forefront of smooth malt heavy biscuit comes through too.

I realize that this is not an ice beer, but the parallels it has in taste and aroma, justify an indirect comparison. Overall, its not a bad beer, but its not one that I nor many people on this site will be rushing to revisit anytime soon. However, all in all, for costing only 2€, it was 2€ well spent.

half liter can:

Pours a honey gold with a decent cap the reduces to a surface lace and laces the glass well.

Light boiled grains and some floral nose to this very faint.

Adequately malty, decent zytec hop balance dry finish...a very unpretentious 2 dimensional Polish Pilsner Decent but not outstanding

Not sure we need another Polish Lager in BC ( we have 5 already) but this is a decent take on the style that has a full mouthfeel and tasted pretty fresh probably due to the can. I used it to make beer brats for a New Years Day lunch party and I tasted pretty good out of the can as I cooked those sausages.

Deep gold, big head out of the can, but instantly down to nothing. Apple juice look.

A little grass, a little malt in the nose, but nothing particularly inviting. Similarly uninspired taste, but nothing offensive. Just plain.

An unremarkable brew. Tough to find tasty stuff from Eastern Europe ...

Pours a deep gold, darker then I expected, with a patchy, persistent head. The aroma is soft and biscuity with a pleasant herbal hoppiness in the background. The taste is malty with a herbal, sea air hop balance. Gingery, spicey notes build with some warmth. The mouthfeel is pretty full for a lager with prickly carbonation. The finish is lightly bitter and short lived.

This is a decent Euro Lager with a good malt profile. I wouldnt really classify it as a pilsner, the hop presence isnt there.

500ml bottle from a Xmas gift sampler from my friend Kris, a bottle hauled back from Poland. Thanks!

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1" white head above the clear light golden brew. Head is frothy and lasts well, with delicate lacing. Aroma is lightly sweet, with a pervasive spiciness. Taste is smooth malt pale sweetness, with a crisp, spicy hops character. Mouthfeel is smooth and satisfying for the style, which sometimes seems watery, but not this one, and drinkability is superb. If you see one, try it out.

The CANQuest is visiting Poland this evening, or better, Poland has come to Chez Wood! CAN you dig it?!?

From the CAN: "Beer with character ... Full-bodied taste"; "Tatra beer is brewed from the finest natural ingredients: malted barley, choicest hops, and pure mountain spring water. Based on an unchanged traditional recipe. Each batch is crafted by brewmasters dedicated to producing exceptional Tatra beer."; "Enjoy Tatra responsibly."

My initial pour created a finger of foamy, bone-white head that was intent on dissipation. Bye! Color was a deep golden-yellow with NE-quality clarity. Pale lager, my butt! This was much more colorful than most AmeriCAN Adjunct Lagers. Nose had the standard lager sweetness, nothing wrong with that, but it CAN become boring. Mouthfeel was medium with a clean, crisp lager sweetness on the tongue. Finish was likewise clean, refreshing and adjunct free! While there was nothing especially notable about this beer, I would choose it over the Warka that I had earlier. I CANnot say exactly why, but it was a nice overall beer that might make its way into the cooler, especially on a hot summer's day.

500 ml can from the LCBO.

Pours an insanely bright and clear golden, darker than most Euro lagers, medium sized but slightly fizzy white head forms, quickly settles down to a thin ring around the glass, few lace spots stick. Smell is sweet, sugary, somewhat fruity, honey, strawberries, apricot, toasty, almost a doppelbock sweetness to it, very heavy and malty, some light grassiness, not bad. Taste is similar, sweet and toasty, some citrus, floral, lightly fruity, honey, weak in the finish, watery, biscuity/bready malt. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. Not a Czech pilsner but alright for a Euro lager. Has a real nice maltiness to it, not bad stuff.

Best before 3.19.2014
A- This beer pours a deep golden yellow crystal clear body with a thin wisp of snow white head that breaks apart and a gentle carbonation.

S- The clean aroma has hints of green slightly sweet sulfur that turns briny as the beer opens.

T- The touch of sweetness to a flat pale malt flavor leads to a green Noble hop note in the finish with a bitter hint in the aftertaste. There is a watery flavor that comes through as the beer opens.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a gentle crisp carbonation in the finish.

O- Some nice hints of flavor in here but a bit thin and watery and the hops start to take on a soapy quality as it warms.

a big head vanished into thin air as soon as the glass hit my table—no lacing, no foamy film. nuthin. really weak malt and no hop character to speak of. i suppose it's possible i got a watery pour, but this was pretty disappointing. it fell short of a few of of the BJCP guidelines for a czech pils (not that this should always guide one's opinion)

English label slightly different than one pictured. No indication that it is a pilsner.

Poured a dark straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a sweet malt, some corn and a dull hop.

The taste was moderately sweet with a hop that balanced out most of the sweetness. Certainly on the more robust side.

The mouthfeel was toward the fuller side of the style.

Overall a decent euro lager.

5.5%abv canned lager, a gift from a Polish friend brought straight from his home town. It's the first canned beer I've tried in seven years, so I don't really know what to expect apart from preparing for something next to rusty water... (I know, I'm extremely biased against canned beers...)

A: served in a jug, it pours a light and bright golden hue, with a foamy white head quickly dissipating and very gentle fizz, almost like champagne to my surprise~~
S: the aroma upfront is really nice and lively, much better than expected!!--lightly acidic lemony and fruity, slightly buttery and biscuity, plus refreshingly corn-like grainy aroma all packed in one sniff, although the hops are not very pronounced. Alas, the aroma doesn't sustain well, and dissipates within three minutes.
T: in comes a soft, fluffy kind of palate of lager malts, lightly sweet but not OTT, along with a mild hop flavour gradually softening and leaving a refreshing yet slightly weak hoppy and medium-bitter (for a lager) taste which lingers on the palate for around 40 seconds per sip.
M: the mouthfeel is quite smooth, with reasonably bitter and dryish aftertaste. Overall the body is still quite thin, but I quite appreciate the dryish and clean mouthfeel at the back, as it arouses more thirst for sure~~
D: I'm not disappointed by this canned beer at all--to put it more positively, maybe it's time that I try to review some canned beers as they are presumably well-made and better than I thought they could be...

Picked up a 4-pack at the Caputo's in Hangover Park.

Nice two finger, flat white head, that quickly dissipates efore I even take a sip. I like the golden hay and overtone of copper color with better than average bubbling.

The aroma is a plain, wet corn and light oasted graing with some nice sunshine kissed, fres cut grass.

The taste starts of very lightly toasted and grainy sweet. But the grassy and faint lemony hops balance that out. Th finish is smooth, but very light in the flavor department. Good malt profile throughout the whole taste of this beer.

Clean palate with just a little graininess. This is an awesome session lager.

This is a pretty good Polish lager in my opinion. I will definetly buy this again.
