The colour is pale straw yellow; the head is gigantic, white, airy and firm. It seems like the liquid is s little bit shady. I wonder if the beer is on the border of being defect or if it is supposed to look this way?
The smell is dry and bitter with lots of hops (like a German pilsner is supposed to be). There are notes of lime and lemons, chemical bitterness and soap.
The taste is hoppier than I expected. Of course, there is a genuine bitterness underneath all other flavours, but there is a fine flowery flavour above it, as a discreet malty flavour. There is also a mild chemical soap-like note that makes it a little out of the ordinary. The long aftertaste is very flowery and hoppy but not as bitter as one might think. A mild roasted note appears after quite a long time.
The carbonation is strong with lots of medium bubbles. The mouthfeel is a little above average.
Slottskällans have brewed a German pilsner with the usual Saaz hops, but also lots of Hersbrucker, which gives the beer a little more depth.
