By the train tracks in a part of Ohio partly untouched by the passing of time and the developments in Akron and Cleveland, it's a little more Pleasantville. The bar is still the classic creaky, woody saloon with popcorn flowing and a great bottle and taplist. Food is what you're looking for at such a place and is not a disappointment.

Great selection of draft beer and good service at the bar. Food pretty good too, but really like the vast selection.

I'll start by saying the space is huge. Maybe a bit TOO large, actually. There seems to be a focus on being a restaurant at this Wink more than the others, with tons of tables in many different rooms not even in sight of the bar. That wouldn't be a problem if the servers were quick, but they are only adequate.

For the beer list, similar to all Winking Lizards. ~150 beers in house, with 10-15 rotating taps. The really hard to find beers aren't around, obviously, but their rotating taps are usually pretty solid, and if you're willing to pay for it then you can get some decent stuff in bottles.

All told this is my local haunt, because only North End Market in the area has a decent selecting, and the atmosphere there is kind of dull.

Stopped here on the way to Blossom. Seems to follow every other Lizard I've been to. 150 or so beers and right around 20 taps.

This building appears to be a couple joined into one. Fairly large place with a large bar off to the left, a dining room to the right side and a pretty huge outside patio. The biggest problem we had was finding a place to park.

Food is not bad. Typical bar food for the most part. I think their pizzas are pretty solid.

Staff most are super friendly and do actually know something about the beer they have.

A standard Winking Lizard, with decent pub food and a selection upwards of 100 beers to choose from. I used to live in the Akron area, and Peninsula was a good summertime stop near the Towpath bike trail. Winking Lizard is an ideal lunch stop when on the trail. The beer selection is very good, mostly bottles with about 10 on tap, you can see the current selections on the website. The seating is either restaurant or bar-room, with room for maybe 300-400 people. I generally choose the bar side with lots of TVs and some arcade games. The food is OK, nothing to rave about but pretty cheap anyways. The wings are nice though.

I went here on a Monday night at a bit past 7:00. A small parking lot made parking a bit of a hassle, and for the first time ever at a Winking Lizard (even during peak hours), we had to wait for a table. Perhaps it is because there doesn't seem to be to many other restaurants in the area, perhaps because it seems a bit smaller than the other stores, bit still surprising on a Monday. Another unexpected first for the Winking Lizards that I've been to: frozen glasses. Also, the location wasn't quite as aesthetically pleasing as some of the others. Other than that, the restaurant seemed to be on par with the rest. Friendly service, although our server didn't seem to be around to much, and good food.

The Winking Lizard in Peninsula does not differ much from the chain's sportsbar platform. An excellent selection makes the trip worthwhile to sample many quality beers, but the environment challenges the possibiliy of fully enjoying a quality brew.

If you live in or near the Cuyahoga National Recreactional area, your choice of bars is narrow. The Lizard and adjacently faced "Fischer's Pub" are the only places in town to get a pint. Both are set in the historical town of Peninsula, and situated next to the bank of the river that runs throughout the Cuyahoga Valley. Abundant foliage and preserved river locks systems create some nice rural scenery, especially on the patio when weather premits, but a bit remote, with the closest convienience or grocery store 10 mins away.

Of course the Lizard always has over one hundred craft beers in stock, those listed on their "World Tour" menu, other sesonal beers, and taps that change monthly. However, don't plan on having a quiet drink on a day when the Browns or OSU is playing. The service is prompt, despite the typically hectic atmosphere due to lack of more bars nearby .Televisions on every wall, including dual-projection screen moniters near the front of the bar make this a great place watch the game, but too loud and distracting to ponder the complexities of craft brew.

To summarize, with respect to getting good food and beer in town, your options are limited to two places. And to find one with a relaxed atmosphere that charges decent prices, you must look elsewhere.
