Not sure what Alvinne was brewing here. Arome was weak and did not reflect the beer. The hops and the beer did not meld so I could not appreciate the drink. Nice cloudy look though.

Golden bodied hugely clouded with massive foamy white head
There's a lot of yeast in the bottle & it dominates the aroma with some citrus hop
the flavour mirrors the aroma
deceptively hides the big abv
good stuff just too much yeast
is this over bottle conditioned lol

L: It pours hazy gold to peach with a billowy 2” white head that provides clingy lace
S: The nose is fruit with traces of biscuit.
T: Fruit, biscuit, spice, peach, alcohol, citrus and orange juice.
F: Very creamy, medium to medium light body, medium high carbonation.
O: This is supposed to be Belgium’s hoppiest ale – the hops are minimal at best suggesting the beer is past its prime.

Seen lots of different recipes for this one. Mine has 4 different malts, and Magnum, Chinook, Columbus and Hallertau Mittelfruh hops.
Pours golden with orange tinges, small white head, goes fast to sticky lacing. Floating sediment.
Smell of sour cherries, sweet citrus (tangerines), banana, caramel, Belgian spices, pinch of tropical fruit. So really fruity hops backed by Belgian ale malt and yeast.
Lots of sweet fruitiness in the first seconds, with tangerines, papayas, overripe peaches, cherries, all covered in caramel and Belgian sugars. Bit of acidic apple. Next up, bitterness assaults the palate, and will stick around for a very very long time, dominating the rest of the drink. Transition goes through pineapple, grapefruit, and then full on spruce, pine, weed, spicy leafy hops and dry tobacco in the finish. Tho a hop bomb, some Belgian spices manage to show up, like some clove, citrus peel, faint coriander and a decent amount of peppercorn. Green hay funk mixed in there too. Very bitter dry finish.
Medium body and carbonation. Aftertaste is green and hoppy, with a faint fruitiness. No sweetness.
Never heard about Alvinne, but this beer certainly made me curious, will look out for more. Maybe unbalanced, but a very much IPA Belgian.

A: The beer is very hazy yellowish amber in color and has large clumps of yeast suspended near the bottom of the glass. It poured with a finger high off white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Aromas of pale malts and Belgian yeast are present in the nose, which also has notes of caramel malts and muted hints of citrusy hops.
T: The taste seems to have stronger flavors of musty Belgian yeast along with notes of caramel and pale malts as well as fruity yeast and a moderate amount of bitterness from the hops.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. The hops lend a bit of tongue prickling to the mouthfeel.
O: This beer wasn't one of the best Belgian IPAs that I've had, but had some interesting complexities in the taste. This would probably be a good beer to try fresh in Europe.

Bottle poured at the brewery, making for a beautiful, thick-looking copper with a copious and lasting head the color of a good sabayon. Lots of citrus-y hop aromas, grapefruit, orange and wood. Hops are to the fore as much in the mouth, with a large dose but of a delicately flavored blend, giving more taste of grapefruit and a coriander herbal note. Also a nice dose of malt, caramel, yellow fruits. There is a balance there of lots of contrasting flavors, but not quite in a harmonious whole. Creamy, filling but clean feel, well done on that. A winter brew in blonde style.

Poured from bottle into a chalice glass

Appearance – Even with very little agitation when taking the beer out of the fridge, upon opening, it exploded with tons of foam spewing from the brew. Upon pouring in the glass, a huge bubbly head forms with massive carbonation bubbles entrapped within. The color of the brew is of a hazy straw nature with some hints of orange seen within. The massive foam head has a great level of retention, very slowly fading and leaving lots of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma has a nice blend of Belgian yeast, citrus, and hop. The Belgian yeast aromas bring a nice yeast cake and spice aroma of coriander and clove along with a lighter banana smell. The citrus smells are mainly of a sweet orange nature, but also contain some aromas of lemon. These lemon aromas couple as hop aromas as well, and are mixed with some grassy and herbal hop smells; all melding with the rest of the smells to produce a very nice aroma overall.

Taste – The taste begins with a bready and yeasty flavor with a moderately strong showing of a sweet orange and a sour and bitter lemon citrus taste. After the initial tastes, a nice yeasty flavor hits the tongue, bringing with it a banana flavor. The sweeter orange flavor dwindles as the taste moves on with it becoming drier as the flavor moves to the end. The bready flavors take on a more cracker nature as well, with a decently strong grassy and herbal flavor as well as a little bit of earth coming to the tongue, in all, leaving a rather drier and moderately, but not too hoppy,Belgian flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to slightly thicker side with a carbonation level that was insanely high. The carbonation level was almost ridiculous making it almost impossible to pour, but yet still somehow appropriate for the hop flavors and Belgian style.

Overall –A rather pleasant drinking Belgian IPA. Rather enjoyable overall.

An interesting Belgian ale. Really high IBU content for a Belgian ale. Has a dark yellow hazy appearance. Tastes like Lemon meets clove, spicy notes, with a little bit of toffee and orange and a alcohol finish. Powerful on the hops and on the spices. Needs to be drank cool but not chilled. I call this one DIPA meets Belgian Abbey Ale. Excellent. I suspect this is past it's prime or the East Coast allotment which had some handling issues. I paid $.99 for my bottle. I plan on going back to the liquor store and buying their remaining bottles.

This 11.2oz bottle was an impulse buy. A Belgian IPA clocking in at 115 IBU? You had me at Belgian IPA.

It's a good looking beer, that's for sure. Plenty of long-lasting foam on top of that amber liquid, flecked with sediment.

It smells nothing like I expect. It's slightly medicinal -- maybe a hint of band-aid in there -- with a bit of burnt sugar.

And it sure it bitter! I'm not sure there is enough going on to compensate. The flavor follows the aroma, but with a twinge of sourness akin to a squeeze of lemon in a glass of iced tea -- enough to detect, but not enough to define it. Sadly, the burnt sugar is not backed with a little sweetness. This could use just a little. There is a tiny astringency that emerges at it warms.

This is my second beer from Alvinne. Each has seemed experimental and somewhat gimmicky. I would pass on this if offered one.

On tap at Lucky Baldwin’s in Pasadena, CA.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy orange-tan head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and some herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is drinkable but not something I would seek out again.

Huge white head - hey I'm not the only one that can get over-carbonation. Mild spicy with shots of citrus over a pale malt. Kinda' nice - not great - a little refreshing and light.
Slightly cloudy darker gold. Lot's of swirling bubbles with the nucleation of my SN tulip.
Boy, there is a lot going on in the flavor. Tart, spicy, citrus, long grapefruit finish (with no Am. hops), interesting hop flavors (and I wonder if they might actually be a little subdued, as I'm not sure of the age). Not great, but interesting and full of flavor.
With all that carbonation really is quite smooth and soft in feel. A little on the light side.
Enjoyable beer. I like this style. More unique than standard, but worth a taste.

Tried on tap.
Served up in a snifter. Deep golden amber with a billowy off-white head that lasts.

Nose is tart. Sweet and sour. Vinegar and hops. Absolutely fantastic.

Taste is surprisingly sour. Not expecting this from a Belgian IPA. Almost like a hoppy Oud Bruin. Sweet-tarts and lingering hops. Interesting combo.

Solid mouthfeel. A very unique and great beer.

I had this at a local wine bar last night because it sounded interesting. I had it in a wine glass. It appeared to be dark with a tan-colored head but it was so dark that it was difficult to be sure.

To me this tasted mostly like a regular IPA. I didn't catch a lot of Belgian yeast flavor from it. It was nice, although IPAs are not my favorite style. I was glad to have tried it as I'd never seen it available before.

Belgian IPA? This is a tripel, and a bad one at that. Although it has some of the characteristics of a good tripel-- the scabby head, the hammy smell, the awful color-- it has waaay to much yeasty sting and a head that creates a terrible mess as it erupts from the bottle. Make sure you lay out newspaper before opening. The barnyard funk in both the aroma and taste is so dry and so overwhelming, it's like eating hay from a stall. There's a citrus component that tastes rather rotten, too-- think of old, dried out, moldy oranges, and then put this one back on the shelf. To be avoided, even by adventurous drinkers.

Got to have some of this at Tap & Table one night when they had it on tap around my birthday last year. The beer pours out as a hazy yellow color, the head is very thin and white. The smell reminded me of a medicine cabinet full of latex gloves. The smell was not that appealing to me. The taste was very similar to the nose, tasted almost like rubber. I'm sure this is from what ever hop variety they used but to me it's not really jiving for me. The mouthfeel was super thin and kind of watery. Overall I was not impressed with this brew on any level. I wouldn't recommend this one in my honest opinion.

Not my bag, beer served in a DFH signature glass. Beer is dark maber and hazy (served with sediment) over carbonated, huge head, some lacing, moderate to high carbonation.

Aroma is bready and mildly earthy with hops.

This is one of those beers that I think, not really an IPA, just a regular Belgian pale ale with some extra hops in there. The hops almost seem like an after thought, which results in a hoppy aftertaste, it's moderate in body, really yeasty, a little sulfury and chewy in the midpalate and a mildly bitter finish. Not a repeat.

Hazy orange with lots of sediment and a decent beige head that hangs around.

Nose reminds me of a dry white wine, apple and pear, white grapes, the fruit is the majority of the flavor but the golden malt sneaks in towards the end.

The taste is significantly maltier and very yeasty, but the fruit flavors lie on top quite evenly and hang around for a slightly sweet-tart finish.

Lighter body but still a little thick, lots of carbonation typical of Belgian yeast, and with a pleasing balance that is not lacking in character. Crisp and refreshing, and a pleasure to drink.

Hanging out in my champagne flute, this beer is beautiful with its distinct off-white light orange head. Supreme lacing.

It releases smells of caramel coverred cherrys.
The taste is of strawberry orange with a lingering finish of semi-sweet malt funk and vanilla.

This is what Infinium wish it tasted like.

If you can find it, try it.

Poured into a stemmed tulip: 4 fingers of foamy, near-meringue head over golden, apple-juice-like body with tons of effervescent nucleation, resembling champagne. Leaves sticky patches of lacing. Nice head, nice color, head drops to a lumpy finger & retains well.

Smells of tart apple juice, spicy & peppery, with a dry champagne quality. Good but a little overwhelming. As it warms a sweetness like angelfood cake emerges.

Notes in aroma follow through into the taste, with more of a sparkling cider quality, followed by some lemony, peppery, & herbal notes bringing up the rear & ending sharply. Nice baked apple aftertaste, good but saturating.

Very effervescent, full-bodied. A little sharp & "scrubbing" at times. Dries out halfway through to finish. Feel is fun & a little challenging.

Overall, tasty, big flavor, but kind of hits you over the head with it. The alcohol is only noticeable in the warming, but one is plenty.

A: Poured from a bottle to a goblet. Had an orange color and a thick, cloudy consistency. There was an inch of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Good lacing.

S: A nice aroma of light fruit and malt.

T: Tasted of fruit (bananas, pears), some esters, malt, and a little yeast, but the flavor was a bit on the the thin side. Slightly watery.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

D: A very uneven beer. Not necessarily horrible, but definitely underwhelming.

Explodes out of bottle and fills a bomber mug completely with a foamy, cream head that fades very slowly leaving some lace. Cloudy amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Hoppy caramel nose. Flavor is balanced with caramel malts and some hops. Label says this is the hoppiest beer in Belgium but is nothing like, say, an American IPA. Very drinkable. Higher ABV is hidden. $5.95 for a 330ml bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma. Best by Dec 2013.

A - Hazy orange copper with a huge, quickly collapsing, long-lasting ring of whitish head.

S - Nice pilsner-malt candy sweetness, little banana and pear esters. Medium spicy/earthy hop aroma. Lite perfumy alcohol.

F/M - Sweet pils, lite fruity pear-like esters with a touch of banana. Bready malts. Slight boozy alcohol. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Slightly astringent in the finish.

D - OK, but solventy alcohol and astringency detract from the other flavors and enjoyment of this beer.

Following the lead of other Belgian brewers brewing hopped-up ales for the US market, Alvinne releases this unpasteurized, unfiltered, bottle-conditioned beer brewed with pils malt, 3 specialty malts, and Hallertau, Goldings, and Saaz hops. 115 International Bitterness Units (IBUs) worth of hops to be exact.

This one is a foamer! Decanting is difficult, so a patient slow pour into a big glass, or simply waiting a few minutes for the carbon dioxide to release, but once you're there you've got a hazy rich honey-amber-colored beer topped with an outrageous chunky meringue-like foam head with some amazing cling. The nose is a bit yeasty, cidery, with a dense floral hops aroma and some spice. Fluffy and smooth on the palate with a light to medium body. Sweet up front with a buttery caramel base and toastiness that's immediately followed by a massive hop bite and some zesty citric action that's not overly bitter but certainly "hoppy" with plenty of raw leafy, herbal flavors. Earthy, pithy, really rough around the edges, and semi-astringent too. Fruity notes emerge, apple and pear initially, and then a berry-like note. Beneath it's a bit alcoholic, spicy and peppery. Wraps up with a yeasty and slightly bitter linger, with prolonged dry finish.

Though the point of the beer is to be "one of the hoppiest beers of Belgium" (as stated on the label), in doing so the brewer risks overuse and misuse of the hops, and losing total control of the flavors, which is why this brew is not as clean or balanced as other versions--as balanced as you can get for a raging hoppy beer that is. However it's certainly a good pick for those wanting to explore this emerging style.

The body is a lightly hazy copper in color and upon even a gentle pour grows an enormous, billowing white head that leaves a thick sheet of lace on the glass. Yeasty fruitiness in the nose, with apples, muscat grapes and ripe pear interspersed with a peppery spice.

The first taste reveals three competing major flavors: bitter, boozy and fruity. These major themes blend for various combinations throughout the glass of beer. Bright fruit (apples, pears, etc), herbal and citrusy hops, sweet rich malt and some understated alcohol flavors with a bit of warming in the mouth. Medium bodied with a finish that's more bitter than sweet.

Is this the hoppiest beer in Belgium (as they claim)? No way. I like Belgian IPAs and Urthel Hop It and Houblon Chouffe are hoppier in the same style and, off the top of my head, Westvleteren 6 is a hoppier golden ale. But Gaspar is still a pretty tasty beer.

Interesting brew. Poured very lively with a huge foamy frothy sudsy textured off white to cream colored head that lasts and lasts plus lots of lace. Color is an almost clear amber. Aroma was surprising given the amber glass of the bottle and being skunky (which, thankfully, was fleeting). Also yeast malt spice and bread dough. Flavor is like aroma and not expansive as is usually the case. Finish is like flavor and a bit sweet, but not too. Decent brew overall.
