Poured a dark brown color with no head - almost like an uncarbonated cola. Not aesthetically appealing. The aroma was next to nothing, could barely pick up anything distinctive. It smelled almost like cherry cola on oak. The beer actually tasted good. Very rich, sweet and sour with tart cherries and oak. With its malt and sweetness, it taste more like a sour stout. Lactic and tart at the finish. It's acidic in the mouth with medium body and very little carbonation. Overall: an okay beer. Many others beers are much better in this style including La Folie. I picked this up recently at the store but can't help but wonder when this was bottled. No bottled on date.

Wouldn't call it a oud bruin. It's more like a dark wild ale aged in red wine barrels.
Pours a still black body absolutely no head. The smell is complex. The taste to but with very distinct nutty notes and vinous notes. Lactic in some ways.
Citric tartness. Some metallic notes
The body is light but a bit viscous.
Almost no carbonation.

Delicious sour. Just the right amount of tartness. Good body. Love this beer.

A: Poured into a tulip glass to a deep reddish brown topped by a very small light tan head that fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of sourness with some light cherry notes and some nice oak. Hints of cocoa powder as well.
T: Taste is tart cherries up front with some nice sourness and light funk. Light chocolate and some oak notes help to round things out. Swallow is more sourness and cherry with lingering tartness and some slight oxidation on the finish along with a light oak note and some cocoa powder.
M: This is on the lighter side of medium in body with light carbonation and a drying finish from the acidity.
O: Overall this one is pretty solid. It has some really nice flavors and complexity going on which makes it fun and interesting to drink. Worth a try if you are a fan of the style.

Entered from notes during the sour fest at Brouwer's.

Pours brown, dark, with a small head. Not hazy. Smells tart, maybe a little plum. Fairly mild aroma.

Taste is very tart, a little musty. Maybe unripe plums. Earthy.

Mouthfeel is very dry. Overall, good.

Poured into a tulip a pretty nice clean/clear red/amberish color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy/fizzy one-finger off-white head, which leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, yeasty, with a nice touch of oak, tart, cherries. The taste is really nice, malty, yeasty, nice oakyness, tart, with some cherries. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a very tasty brew. Thanks Arthur!

Pours clear, dark reddish-brown with 1/4 inch head. Taste is sour mix, dark cherry, and merlot. Slightly sour, prickly, medium light bodied, and low carbonation. I believe Alvinne makes some of the tastiest Belgian beers available in the U.S. and this one is no exception. Hits all the right notes in the style. Nice beer to sit with and sip. Well worth seeking out if you like the style.

This is an excellent Oud Bruin. Not as sweet as some of the more commonly encountered Belgian oud bruins (Vichtenaar, Monk's etc) but with just about the perfect amount of astringency and oakiness. Very satisfying. What an ugly label though.

Pours a dark reddish brown color with off-white head. Dark fruits, wine, oak, and some earth tones on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with more dark fruit notes and some wine.

Poured a deep reddish dark brown into a snifter. Thin head but decent lacing. Slight sour cherry smell. Taste is sour cherries, red wine, and oak. A good now and then beer.
