Bottle shared at bu11zeye's 10,000th tasting.

The beer pours a brown color with a white head. The aroma has a ton of toffee and tart cherries, which meld very well together. The flavor is fairly similar, with a few additions. The tart cherries and toffee mix very well, and are complimented by some biscuit malt, a little bit of leather and some earthiness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Thanks for opening this with me, JealousChalice!

Muddy crimson in color with a small off-white head that leaves oily streaks down the glass. Not pretty, nor unattractive.

Simple though nice aroma of sour cherry and sweet toffee. There's a hint of sour acidity and the beginning of funk in the aroma as well.

A simple kriek, though incredibly drinkable. Moderately sour cherry flavors mixed with sweet toffee and very, very mild funk. I would prefer more funk and a higher level of sourness.

Medium bodied with low to moderate carbonation.

Good, but not great.

Mine's a 2014. American Wild Ale?!
Exploded out of the bottle. A very dry and sour kriek with some very interesting chocolatey notes. Nice mouthfeel. Nice fruity bread pudding aftertaste.
Not bad at all. Definitely one for a muggy day.

Thanks to JealousChalice for sharing this at DarthKostrizer's tasting.

Pours a slightly murky reddish-brown with a tan head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of red wine vinegar, sour cherries, and some funk aromas. Taste is much the same with an acidic and tart finish. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer but I think it smells better than it tastes.

Still i don't know what to think of these fruit/kriek beers.
Way to sour imo.

what a beer! darker than other kriek types, more natural looking, pushing brown, but with the brick red overtone from the fruit. tons of funk on the nose, almost smells like old lambic, musty and astringent at the same time, oak and wine tannins, tartness from the fruit but also a mature bacterial sourness as well, heavy wood, an an almost decomposing vibe about it, less fresh, more integrated and developed. the cherry is right there with a bright red wine character, plums and blackberries too, nice pucker to the fruit, some sweetness too, and a lot of cherry in the finish. i love it being in red wine barrels, there is a lot of that coming through here, and its excellent with the cherry. beyond that, the base beer is interesting, more malty than most, mature, and set up just right for the fruit and the wood, its quite sour and acidic, but its also mellow in the right ways. lots of body, good carbonation from the tap, and an almost preserved cherry intensity to finish. musty funk for days, wet wood, earthy and fancy at the same time. i really loved this, as much beer as it is fruit, which isnt always the case with these. on tap at backcountry pizza, who continues to lead the field when it comes to procuring kegs like this. a different type of kriek, a darn fine beer!
