Affectionately referred to as “Super Jubel”, Jubel 2015 is an imperial take on our festive winter ale. Notes of toasted caramel, raisins, dates and figs are complemented by spicy and herbal hop aromas. Originally planned as a once-a-decade-ale; we just couldn’t wait another five years. (Released February 2015)

Appearance: Brown, murky, ok head that fades out pretty quickly.
Smell: Oxidized caramel, red wine fruitiness, some oddball vegetal note.
Taste: Very earthy, muted caramel sweetness, kind of a woody note, subdued red fruit, then a combined earthy and mild dark chocolate finish.
Overall: I saw this at Blue Max as I think they are clearing out all their cellared beers and thought I'd try it. I've never had it fresh, so this bottle is somewhere around 7 years old. It's hard to tell what's changed when I haven't had it fresh, but it does seem like this might be a bit past optimal drinking age. Flavors seem muted and muddled, not bad, but not great. It is pretty complex in trying to decipher these flavors, so I call it a worthy experiment.

22oz bottle dated best after 01/24/16 poured into a snifter shows a ruddy, brown, clear translucent body with bronze highlights when backlit and floats a 1/2" tan head of mixed bubbles for at least a minute before falling to a edge-hugging ring. Agitation creates sheets of bubbles with legs leaving the glass clean of lacing.
Rich combination of spices, caramel malts, grape tannins, dried fruits and spicy hops. Maybe a touch of oxidation with a cardboard aroma and taste just under the beautiful surface. Slight warming sensation but no booze heat.
Medium feel, drying with an almost chewy finish.
Overall probably just past it's time, but I'm glad to have tried it.

Pours a murky brown color with walnut highlights, thin tan head falls fast no real alce.
Aroma is nice brown sugars everywhere, dates, figs, caramel, oak and vinous notes blend together for a great nose . So sweet and inviting smelling.
Taste is mostly like the nose lots of brown sugars coated figs, toffee and caramel nice and earthy in the finish. The wine barrels impart flavor that's more noticeable then in the nose, you get hints from the oak as well. Overall the taste isn't as sweet and thick as the nose makes it out to be in my head anyway. Maybe a touch too much age but I have no reference for that.
Mouthfeel is big medium but becomes lighter in the finish even without the aide of over carbonation, which is a little weird.
Overall smell fantastic and tastes good maybe a touch too much age lol.

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep reddish brown beer which is topped by a finger of rocky cream colored head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass
S: Smells of brown sugar, caramel, faded hops, oak, and hints of wine.
T: Taste is slightly wine and oak forward followed by brown sugar and caramel with some hints of toasted malt. Faded hops on the back end that are slightly tea like with some more mingling oak and wine barrel. On the swallow there's some wine barrel and oak, faded hops, caramel, and lingering brown sugar.
M: This beer has a moderate amount of heft on the palate with a fairly neutral feel. Carbonation is adequate and slightly effervescent while the beer has a drying finish.
O: Overall this is a pretty solid beer. It has good flavors and a nice amount of complexity. it has also held up well over time.

Had on tap at Aces & Ales-Tenaya in Las Vegas, NV. Another great dark beer from Deschutes. Great dark Belgian strong ale. but starting to show its age after 4-5 years. This example is a bit oxidized, but not too bad yet.

22oz (bottled 1/24/2015) into a tulip. Pours a deep rich mahogany with patchy lace, wisps of foam across the surface.
Aroma is rich and sweet. Toffee, rum-soaked tobacco, dates/figs, brown sugar.
Taste is likewise sweet and complex. Brown sugar, caramel, nice warming touch of booze. Hoppy bitterness balances the malty sweetness. A hint of the Pinot noir barrel and oak.
Mouthfeel is sticky and medium to heavy bodied. A satisfying dessert beer.
Overall a nice barrel-aged imperial version of Jubelale.

What an interesting holiday beer. I feel like this should be advertised as a fruitcake in a glass. Strong spicy notes, along with the sweetness from the caramel and the fruits, actually balance it pretty well. Not as dark in color as I expected, but that's okay. I'd picked this up several months ago and kept it cold, and broke it out for New Year's. Glad I did. And also glad they didn't wait another decade to make this one.

Well aged 22 ounce bottle. Pours a murky reddish brown with scant light brown head. Aroma of molasses, caramel malt, dates, raisins, boozy plums. Taste follows with dark fruits, plums, a bit of sherry, and bourbon at the end. Full mouthfeel with warming sweetness balanced by just a touch of finishing boozy bitterness.
