Other notes:
From a growler. TAste and smell might slightly compromised because the same keg had been on tap for a while. Poured into a nonic pint glass.

The beer pours an off-color white bubbly white head that dissipates quickly but still leaves a small film on the top. The beer leaves a lot of lacing. The beer itself is a clear dark copper color that looks very nice with the carbonation bubbles heading towards the surface.

The beer smell is very low key with strong malt notes and citrus hop notes. The hop notes are very bitter and the malts are a caramel sweet. The two different notes mix together to bring out a very nice smell resembling that of an English Bitter with a stronger hop profile.

The beer taste is bitter with some sweetness to dull it. The hop bitterness is citrus with a bit of lemon rind to it. The malt sweetness is a little bit caramel with some bready notes as well.

The mouthfeel is fairly light bodied and very smooth. The carbonation is biting and makes it a bit more refreshing. That being said, the beer dries the mouth and leaves a very refreshing feel.

Overall, a very good and unique pale ale. I would definitely recommend this one and am glad that Deschutes is distributing in my area.
