Pitch black with no head or lacing. Nose is of chocolate as the bottle suggests. Taste is roasty with notes of coffee and chocolate. Slight bitterness. Low/moderatw carbonation. At 8.99 a sixer Obsidian is a value stout.

Jet black with a finger+ of chocolate head that sticks around and leaves a fair lacing down the glass. Nice full deep roasted malt, dark chocolate, earthy, and dark bread crust in the flavor as well as the aroma. A bit creamy up front and then it dries up up on the finish. I need another swig. Slightly below average carbonation, thick and rich body, like a founders porter. Not quite to the charred taste but quite dark roasted. Just a pleasure to drink.

L: Pours a luscious pitch black color with a creamy tan head and a few fingers of lacing on the glass, a very inviting looking stout.

S: Open with aromas of dark chocolate, and a strong bitter espresso flavor, some dark roasted malt, and char follow in the background. Very little hop presence. A slight bit of fruit in the nose.

T: A strong dark chocolate, with a strong bitter espresso flavor, dark roasted malt, and char follow in the background. A slight bit of fruit, and very little hop presence. The bitterness is slightly strong on this beer but other than that it is a really nice stout.

F: Very smooth and creamy and full body.

O: The bitterness in the taste is a little strong compared to the rest of the beer, but otherwise this is a fantastic stout.

Pours dark black with a very nice 1" tan foam and tons of lacing. Smells wonderful, full of chocolate, malt, and coffee. The taste is smooth and balanced, full on chocolate, malty coffee, and a little toasted nut. There is a mild alcohol finish with some bitter chocolate flavors. Overall a very nice finish and excellent holiday beer.

Beautiful dark black beer with a tan head. Smells of sweet chocolate and some coffee. The flavor has both bitter dark chocolate and some sweet milk chocolate along with more coffee, burnt sugar, and some dark fruit. Also relatively light for a stout which is great. One of my favorite stouts out there.

Opaque black brew with a nice off-white head that retains well and leaves some nice lacing.

The aroma is dark roasted malt, mild coffee, hints of chocolate and slightly sweet.

The taste is along the same lines, lots of rich roasted malt up front, a bit of coffee and chocolate with some fruitiness - raisins or plums, with a touch of earthy hops, complex but nicely balanced and very drinkable.

Medium bodied, creamy smooth, easy to drink.

Altogether, this is a very enjoyable stout, not too heavy but very tasty.

dark pour with a tanish brown head, good retention and lacing. notes of earthy bitter chocolate, leather, dark roasty malts, hint of espresso and char, hops providing a nice level of bitterness.
