It smells like chocolate, coffee, grain and spice with nothing harsh or burnt. There is just a hint of cinnamon. A deep dark brown liquid fills the glass as bubbles stream to the surface moderately fast and is crowned by a 1" lacy and persistent dark tan cap. The flavor reminds me of Mexican chocolate without the grit. It has chocolate and spice, some cinnamon, mildly sweet balanced by a chocolate coffee bitterness. A slight tang balances the initial sweetness as the beer dries out slightly as it finishes. The body is medium full and the carbonation is medium high but very soft and creamy.

Pours a deep black color with a light tan head about a finger thick. Smells of roasted malts, molasses, and chocolate. Tastes of roasted malts, semi-dark chocolate, lightly roasted coffee, and a little hop bitterness. Medium-heavy body leaning more towards medium with some carbonation to it. The carbonation is about the only knock, it's a little much than I'd like in a stout. Overall, solid easy drinker that I'd happily buy again.

12 oz bottle. Dark black pour with a thick and creamy tan head. Malty chocolate goodness in the nose. Starts a touch sweet, then coffee, bitter chocolate and just a touch of hop bitterness in the finish. Excellent.

Bottle poured into a snifter

Black brown liquid. Brown frothy, bouncy one finger foam cap, good lacings

Aroma of espresso, chocolate and roasted malts

Espresso taste over roast malts

Mouthfeel is fuzzier than I like in a stout

Good stout

An excellent stout. Blackish color with a small tan head. Goes down really smooth. Taste of roasted malts and overall simply irresistable and would be great on a nice summer day

Among the best, if not THE Best stout i have had.
Chocolate-y, without being sweet.
Mellow flavor that does not overpower, without bite, making it easy to drink. like a more traditional flavor.
Nice dark color, thick brown head. Smell is subtle, pleasant roast.

This beer pours a simple black with a large mocha head. The aroma features chocolate, mild coffee, cream, and oddly, yogurt. The flavor is also dominated by chocolate, with coffee, a moderate sweetness, and some green flavors as well, maybe even mint. The mouthfeel is relatively thin, clean,a and low in carbonation. Overall this is a nice classic stout, nothing showy, and somewhat thin, but very tasty, and easy to drink more than one in a sitting.

From a bottle poured into a stout/porter glass. Nice dark tan head that dissipates quickly to a small ring. Toffee and chocolate on the nose. That continues on the palate with some coffee and tobacco following. Doesn't drink too heavy. Quaffable. Great beer !

-in duvel glass. best by 09.25.16. consumed 01.25.17. warmed to 45-47c.

A: Deep inky black exit from the bottle was viscose. A dark and frothy leathery colored head sits atop with a moderate rate of retention. Small speckled lace band.

S: Freshly roasted coffee beans and softly charred wood. A deep and rich sense of dry chocolate moves in with light hints of cocoa-alcohol. Really smooth sense of chocolate-coffee roastiness lingers on.

T: Rich roasty flavor, freshly grounded coffee beans and charred wood with some roasted pine. A bittering blast of burnt chocolate, dry campfire minerality and silty ash. Big blast of roasted charred flavor and dry vanilla finish out.

M: Medium-full body, roasted warmth on inner cheeks, quiet carbonation, viscose feel.

O: Bittering and dark roasted nature, nice presentation and aroma followed by a big flavor and hearty mouthful. outstanding try.
