L: Pours a luscious pitch black color with a creamy tan head and a few fingers of lacing on the glass, a very inviting looking stout.

S: Open with aromas of dark chocolate, and a strong bitter espresso flavor, some dark roasted malt, and char follow in the background. Very little hop presence. A slight bit of fruit in the nose.

T: A strong dark chocolate, with a strong bitter espresso flavor, dark roasted malt, and char follow in the background. A slight bit of fruit, and very little hop presence. The bitterness is slightly strong on this beer but other than that it is a really nice stout.

F: Very smooth and creamy and full body.

O: The bitterness in the taste is a little strong compared to the rest of the beer, but otherwise this is a fantastic stout.

Pours dark black with a very nice 1" tan foam and tons of lacing. Smells wonderful, full of chocolate, malt, and coffee. The taste is smooth and balanced, full on chocolate, malty coffee, and a little toasted nut. There is a mild alcohol finish with some bitter chocolate flavors. Overall a very nice finish and excellent holiday beer.

Beautiful dark black beer with a tan head. Smells of sweet chocolate and some coffee. The flavor has both bitter dark chocolate and some sweet milk chocolate along with more coffee, burnt sugar, and some dark fruit. Also relatively light for a stout which is great. One of my favorite stouts out there.

Opaque black brew with a nice off-white head that retains well and leaves some nice lacing.

The aroma is dark roasted malt, mild coffee, hints of chocolate and slightly sweet.

The taste is along the same lines, lots of rich roasted malt up front, a bit of coffee and chocolate with some fruitiness - raisins or plums, with a touch of earthy hops, complex but nicely balanced and very drinkable.

Medium bodied, creamy smooth, easy to drink.

Altogether, this is a very enjoyable stout, not too heavy but very tasty.

From the 12 oz bottle in a pint glass. This most excellent stout pours
a deep coal black with a fantastic head of light brown foam that subsides
to a thick layer with excellent lacing. Nose of subtle cocoa, moderate coffee,
roasted malts, and subtle cream laden char. Flavors exceed the nose with
rich coffee and bakers chocolate with subtle char, light cream on the rear
mingling with subtle herbal hops for balance, and light notes of dark fruit
on the back. Very nice mouth feel; smooth, rich, lightly creamy, and loaded
with dark roasted malt notes. Overall a sensational stout from an excellent brewery.

Cheers

A 355ml bottle with a best before date of 30th January 2017, poured into a Spiegelau Stout glass.

Appearance: Black in colour with a big frothy three fingered mocha brown head with pretty good retention and great lacing.

Aroma: Light roasty, milk chocolate, coffee and a hint of raspberries.

Taste: Sweet-ish milk chocolate, a touch of dark fruit with a bitter roast coffee bean and espresso finish.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, medium to light bodied with mild carbonation.

Overall: An easy to drink Stout with nice chocolate and coffee notes.
