Brilliant beer, but, outdone by its nitro counterpart. The bitterness of the CO2 seems to interfere with the bitterness of the coffee flavor. If you enjoy your coffee black, this might be for you; I do, sometimes, but, again, the bitterness does compound.

A- This beer pours a heavily dark dark brown/black and is thick like motor oil upon looking at it. The head is a coffee/caramel color, and upon the pour it is of a thick patchy nature....plenty of large bubbles! Much too hard to see what is happening with the carbonation but the lacing is quite nice, with lots of foamy goodness clinging to the side of the glass!

S- Plenty of malty mocha chocolate happening here, with hints of oily dark roast black coffee, toffee, dark roast malt, yeast, cream and hints of dry grainy hop bitterness on the finish....overall this is a very well balanced, if not just slightly dusty, smelling Stout!

T- Very nice flavors that follow the aromas well, with lots of refreshing cocoa, coffee, toffee sweetness, burnt toast character, Earth, Espresso and a finish that is clean, dry and just slightly bitter but it definitely a well balanced flavor profile!

M/O- Medium bodied, with reasonably smooth carbonation overall. I find this to be a highly drinkable stout and very well balanced overall. I find this to be a top example of what a stout proper should be, and I will definitely purchase this again!

It smells like chocolate, coffee, grain and spice with nothing harsh or burnt. There is just a hint of cinnamon. A deep dark brown liquid fills the glass as bubbles stream to the surface moderately fast and is crowned by a 1" lacy and persistent dark tan cap. The flavor reminds me of Mexican chocolate without the grit. It has chocolate and spice, some cinnamon, mildly sweet balanced by a chocolate coffee bitterness. A slight tang balances the initial sweetness as the beer dries out slightly as it finishes. The body is medium full and the carbonation is medium high but very soft and creamy.

Pours a deep black color with a light tan head about a finger thick. Smells of roasted malts, molasses, and chocolate. Tastes of roasted malts, semi-dark chocolate, lightly roasted coffee, and a little hop bitterness. Medium-heavy body leaning more towards medium with some carbonation to it. The carbonation is about the only knock, it's a little much than I'd like in a stout. Overall, solid easy drinker that I'd happily buy again.

12 oz bottle. Dark black pour with a thick and creamy tan head. Malty chocolate goodness in the nose. Starts a touch sweet, then coffee, bitter chocolate and just a touch of hop bitterness in the finish. Excellent.

Bottle poured into a snifter

Black brown liquid. Brown frothy, bouncy one finger foam cap, good lacings

Aroma of espresso, chocolate and roasted malts

Espresso taste over roast malts

Mouthfeel is fuzzier than I like in a stout

Good stout

An excellent stout. Blackish color with a small tan head. Goes down really smooth. Taste of roasted malts and overall simply irresistable and would be great on a nice summer day
