Poured on-tap into shaker pint glass.
A: Pours a dark ruby-garnet with 1/2 inch dark tan head. Excellent retention and lacing.
S: Sweet, spiced malt, cinnamon, clove, and some hazelnuts.
T: Follows aroma with pleasantly sweet malt, cinnamon, hazelnuts, and lightly toasted grains.
M: Softly sweet. Light-medium body. Mildly spiced. Fairly smooth and creamy feel.
D: Highly sessionable, especially for style. Not overly aggressive on the spice which serves this one well.

App: Dark reddish brown like that of raw honey. Pours a nice one and a half finger head that retains very well. Darker than a lot of winter brews, and almost opaque. Head is a rich coffee and cream color.

Smell: Slight medicinal twinge with significant malt character. Some notes of raisins and caramel. Smells “warm” like some belgian strongs, and oddly enough, a lot like fruit cake.

Taste: Dark and complicated maltiness blooms over the tongue with the first sip. Very deep caramelized flavors with notes of bitter pecan skin and molasses. Some interesting interplay between malt and fairly assertive hop character. A little bit brown, a little bit ESB with some extra bittering hops kick that lingers on your palate long after you swallow. The slightest bit metallic.

Mouth: Heavy bodied and very present when upon the first drink. Medium to light carbonation that fits the style well.
