A: Dark brown with slight cloudiness. Brown foam settled quickly but left a large mess of sticky glass clinging foam.

S: Roasted chestnut and cedar. Good roasted malt. Hints of maple sweetness.

T: Strong roasted grain and rye taste. A warm spiciness softens the roasted notes. Strong hoppy finish balances out the flavors well with hay and dried grass.

M: Medium strong dryness. Finishes with very low dried leaf aftertaste. Surprisingly thin and light in texture.

O: One of the staples of the winter seasonals. It's refreshing and easy drinking. I'm not terribly impressed, but its still a very good beer.

A - The body is a very dark, attractive red. A relatively thin off-white head.

S - Very pleasant sweet smell. Sugar, dark fruits, raisins.

T - Starts out with a rich, fruity, malt flavour - like the nose but slightly less sweet - with a perfect amount hops coming through midway to make things interesting. Has a little spice to it too. Aftertaste is bittersweet mix of hops, dark chocolate and bread.

M - Medium bodied, well carbonated, goes down very nicely

O - A rich, flavoursome malty winter ale. Very moreish. One of my go-to favourite autumn/winter beers.

On tap at Keg Stand in West DSM, Ia. Poured into 10 oz tulip.

Appearance- Not a lot of light in here but definitely appears a very dark red, almost reddish-brown.

Smell- Toffee, spices, slight hops.

Taste- Definitely a hazelnut, raisin and cocoa at the beginning. Fades to a sweeter caramel flavor towards the end.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied, very smooth

Overall- An excellent beer, especially on tap. It is early for winter ales but I enjoyed it just as well. Doesn't beat SN Celebration as my go to winter warmer brew but but definitely a good one when mixing it up.

12oz bottle into a FW tulip. BB 3/2/14

Pours a hazy brownish red color with an appropriate inch thick off white head. A massive aroma of caramel/ toffee engulfs your nose as soon as the beer hits your glass. OOh...the taste is, dare i say, even better than the smell! A lot of dark fruit is what i get at first...raisins/dates, which i didnt get at all in the nose. After that i do get a bit of caramel sweetness but the dark fruit is really what lingers and dominates the palate. Very creamy feel to this beer, the body is just a tad lighter than i'd like, but its real close to spot on.

Overall a very impressive beer that i enjoyed much more than i thought i would. Grab this one while you can!

12oz bottle poured into a shaker pint.

Chestnut brown with mahogany highlights. Has 1 finger of tan head. Good retention and clarity.

Cocoa, raisin, cinnamon and caramel.

Sweet brown breads and raisin. Hazelnut, cocoa and hints of cinnamon. Molasses and caramel maltiness.

Medium-plus bodied, smooth and silky.

Smooth, easy drinking Winter Warmer. Think chocolate & cinnamon Brown Ale.
