From the bottle, it pours a hazy autumn colored amber with a nice thick off-white head that slowly reduces as you watch. Caramel malts and some hops in the nose. The mouth gets caramel malt and roasted malt, along with some spicy hops. Nice!

Good but a little too sweet (ale) for me.

Hazy, dull, orange-amber; head is thick and has solid retention, off-white.
Sweet & warm toasted malt, caramel; squash, some spicey hops.
Malt forward at first, of butterscotch and toffee, but not too sweet; turns to balancing hop bitterness, of pine and resin and spice, the malt trailing through to the finish, really providing some backbone; body is soft and lightly syrupy, medium body and carbonation, very nice; medium dry finish.
Great interplay of flavours, a Fall delight, definitely worth a try.

Clear brownish amber color with a handsome head in the Orval chalice. Plenty sudsy and lively in the mouth. It seems like a good idea, to substitute a darker malt for the usual pale and inoffensive malt used with most IPAs. And I do like the roasted malt taste that this starts out with. But it's all too brief a honeymoon and the Amurrikan hops elbow their way in to take over. Overall it seems more flat and bitter and even on the harsh side. From the 12 oz bottle purchased in Washington.

Appearance: Amber, particles in suspension, good head.
Smell: Floral, bready aroma.
Taste: Spicy, herbal, bready, with some fruity, apple-like notes.
Overall: A very different take on an IPA. Seems to be like a mix of octoberfest and IPA, but using heaps of spicy, herbal hops instead of citrusy. Interesting to try and well made, but not one I'll probably return to.

Very interesting beer with a new combination of flavors that I hadn’t experienced before. Nice amber color with lots of fluffy head and just a little spotty lingering lacing. Smells like a mix between a malty, grain Pilsner with some floral and citrus hops of an IPA. Tastes similarly, along with some caramel and vanilla. Smooth mild thin mouthfeel, really good carbonation. I can always trust this brewery to turn out solid beers!
