the wonderful thing about deschutes is that you are always going to get a quality product, no matter what the recipe is, and no matter how safe and samey this one is, its still super well done, like all of their stuff, thats just who they are. this is a very basic wheat beer, but its quality sets it ahead of many of its peers. i can both taste and feel the wheat here, not much in the way of hops or yeast through most of it to interfere, and the grain is fresh and forward, as light as it is. there is also just a little honey sort of sweetness through this, which gives it some needed flavor, this might be a little bland if it were drier than it is. there are some hops that come on late, crisp and clean still though, just a light citrus splash. sometimes the simple beers are nice, and i like the clean and mild nature of this, its a real sessionable one, and so well carbonated too, right on for summer or early fall as well, the grain flavor is great and the beer, for not being so interesting, is very good. i prefer their more robust and interesting beers, but they never go wrong!

Pours clear, gold in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is big wheat, dough, with grapefruit hops on the finish. Slightly bitter, with moderate carbonation and light body. Great for the style, above average as a beer. Makes for an interesting, clean and oh so drinkable ale. Glad I picked up a six.

12 oz bottle from a six pack bought at the store. Aroma is wheaty, chalky candy, wet hay, faintly lemony. Pours hazy golden with a thick white head with good retention and some lace. Taste has a high level of hoppy bitterness for the style; virtually no sweetness. Crisp, clean and refreshing. Much better than the majority of fake American Hefeweizens, like Widmer, with that hop character.

Hazy pale gold with three fingers of five minute white head. Modest rings of lace.
Smell is spicy wheat.
Taste is spicy lightly bitter with good malt and wheat support. A bit of lemon zest flavor from the hops.
Mouthfeel is light to medium with good carbonation. Finish is lightly dry and slightly tart.
Overall a tasty warm weather beer.

Pours a slightly yellow gold with a white head. Smells of wheat, citrus, and very mild hops. Tastes of wheat, grapefruit, honey, and mildly bitter hops. Medium in body and carbonation. Overall one of the better American wheat beers I've had which leaves me wondering about the lower reviews.

Got this at Marcellars in Idaho Falls. Has a best by date of 8/30/2017.
Appearance: light golden hazy with a finger of off white head that diminishes quickly with little lacing.
Smell: Wheats and malt first. Then a bit of citrus and spices.
Taste: wheat comes through most. Then some malty bread flavor.
Feel: Good carbonation, almost seems a bit watery.
Overall: A pretty good wheat beer from an excellent brewery. I am a little dissapointed in this one though.

Pours a hazy gold color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of strong wheat, slight Euro yeast, and slight citrus hops. Fits the style of an American Pale Wheat Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong wheat, slight Euro yeast, slight citrus hops, hint of coriander, hint of clove, and a hint of floral hops. Overall, good appearance and feel, but lacking in aroma and the body is average.

LOOKS: A hazy, golden/lemon, with a slight head that is gone quickly. Not much for carbonation rising.
Aroma: Slight skunky/grassy hops, and a bready malt.
TASTE: A little bit of lemon peel, bready malt.
FEEL: Good full carbonation, thinner body, but, not watery, dryer on the finish.
OVERALL: OK. Much better stuff out there.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 5/25/2018. Pours fairly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, melon, red apple, wheat, and white bread dough; with light notes of green pepper, pine, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity hops, pale/wheat malts, and light fruity/spicy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, melon, red apple, wheat, and white bread dough; with light notes of green pepper, pine, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very mild herbal, floral, grassy bitterness; and yeast spice on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange, grapefruit, peach, pear, melon, red apple, wheat, white bread dough, light pepper/pine, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity hops, pale/wheat malts, and light fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a delicious American pale wheat ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity hops, pale/wheat malts, and light fruity/spicy yeast flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. Very flavorful and never watery for the ABV. Great balance of citrus/fruity hops and pale/wheat malts; with underlying fruity/spicy American wheat yeast character. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
