Fresh HazeFresh Haze
Notes: Introducing Fresh Haze IPA, our newest IPA is hazy with a chance of obsession. The flavor explodes in your mouth with notes of orange citrus sweetness and a soft malt body. Carrying both citrus and tropical fruit from Mandarina, Amarillo and Simcoe hops…OJ for days.

A - Dark hazy orange pour with frothy white head and lacing.

S - Muted orange on the nose with not much personality.

T - Orange citrus and mandarin orange from start to finish. The orange isn't overpowering at all and sits in the pocket nicely with the malt to finish well balanced and satisfying.

M - Big medium body with soft pricklies.

O - This is an easy drinking and very satisfying IPA from Deschutes. It's not a stand out from the crowd but that's OK because the price point and drinkability is spot on perfect.

Cloudy gold color with a slightly off white head. The beer has a wonderful fresh citrus aroma of orange peel, lemon, & pear with very light hops. Love the taste of the IPA, it has a nice orange, pear and apple flavor witha slight hop finish. The beer has a nice rich creamy mouthfeel. This is one of my favorite iPAs,

Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned on 8/28/19, so only 2 weeks old!

Appearance: hazy golden hue with a thin finger of frothy ivory foam. Seems legit!

Smell: it's got a big orange juice aroma. There's not a lot of complexity going on outside of that, but really, I don't need a whole helluva lot more from a hazy.

Taste: orange and tropical flavors abound, with mango present and even a little guava. This kind of thing is exactly my jam in the style. Bitterness is darn low.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good, well-integrated carbonation and a good creaminess for the style.

Overall: I quite like this beer. It really ticks all the boxes for me.

This is one of the few hazy IPA's that I've tried and it's not bad. Usually I don't drink IPA's so I was hesistant on trying this one. Pours a hazy orange color with a short lasting head. Aroma is a bit citrusy with the aroma of orange peels coming through. Was expecting a tastier beer, nothing too special with this one. It has a lighter body for an IPA, tastes a bit sweet with orangy and malty notes. It could have been more citrusy and it's also a bit too corbonated for my liking.

A nice hazy offering, though a little too much on the fizzy side, kinda like putting baking soda and vinegar in the far as mouthfeel goes, not taste. I do like the flavor, but it's just not one of my favs. Had on tap here at the brewery in Bend.

Poured from tallboy to IPA glass. Looks quite like orange juice, with two fingers of rocky foam perched atop. Nice citrus and white bread aromas. Pure juicy flavors, with navel orange predominant and pineapple, peach and mandarin in the there as well. Soft feel, leaning towards fuller.

Brewed with Unmalted wheat, Malted Wheat, Munich Malt, C-15, Pale 2 Row, Flaked Barley
Hopped with Northern Brewer, Cashmere, Mandarina Bavaria, Amarillo
Alc. 6.5% IBU. 45 Cal. 221/12oz
19.2oz can

Pours out to a hazy burnt orange, almost the same color as the can under bright light. Forms a modest white head with average retention and good lacing. Carbonation is moderate. The nose is interesting. Before reading the description and ingredients, I smelled mandarin orange and tangerine. A little bit of mango. Pretty nice. Not catty, no MJ, mild-mod pine. The mouthfeel is SUPER smooth, really goes down great, medium bodied. The taste is wonderful. Lots of mandarin, orange, tangerine with plenty of residual sugars that add a wonderful chewiness and body and accents the fruit flavors going on here. Well balanced spicy bitterness. No off flavors or aromas.

Wonderful stuff. Highly recommended. A new favorite juicy IPA. Really well done. Definitely buying this again.

Poured from a 12 once bottle into a Spieglau IPA glass.

Appearance: Orange soda with a frothy head that recedes into a persistent thin ring. As it is unfiltered, the beer is rather opaque, hiding the buubles exploding out from the nether unless you hoid the glass to the light.

Aroma: Hoppy bouquet of citrus and floral notes. Not much else going on here, but the balance is exactly right.

Taste: As indicated by the appearance and nose, hoppy citrus notes are at the forefront, with tropical fruits and malts playing in the background. This is a very fruity IPA with just a small degree of hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Perfectly balanced. Not too thick, not too thin, with medium carbonation that makes it slide down the throat with no difficulty. There is no booze detectable. If I were given this in a bar, not knowing what it is, I'd mistake it for a session IPA... until my third or fourth.

Overall: This is a fine IPA. I'm quite pleased with the recent trends of tropical and unfiltered New England style IPAs, and they are consistently good, but this is one of the best I've had. This beer is so smooth and juicy I could easily drink a six pack without even noticing. I've always liked Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA and this one is in the same vein as that, starting a tradition of juicy, fresh, and crushable IPAs.

Modest one finger head of light tan, orange tinged foam. Thin yet long lacing streaks. Opaque and cloudy as expected, only a few visible bubbles. Super juicy nose of tangelo, orange citrus, cocoa, pie crust, the level of concentration in the pineapple, mango, nectarine fruit stunts it, moderate dankness, not particularly herbaceous. More medium-bodied than heavy as the carbonation assists in lifting it off the palate. More by way of pine and tea leaf here, fewer doughy or yeasty notes. Huge amount of tangerine, tangelo to pink grapefruit citrus, juiciness persists fully into the finish. The peach, nectarine, pineapple, passion fruit in turn consistent start to finish, dappled with honey and whipped cream. Minimal hops, no bitterness nor burn. It’s monochrome and the high degree of sweetness could bore some, however, if that’s what you are in the mood for there’s a lot to like. (Canned 8/1/19)

Had this on cask at Portland location, and it was so much more drinkable and creamy than the on tap version also had there. A delight of an IPA. A good day.

I love this brewery and thought I had reviewed this beer before. Anyway saw some one month old cans in Wegmans in southeastern Pennsylvania and had to give them a shot. Very hazy creamy juicy beer. Smells and tastes of orange with hints of pineapple. In mouth it is very creamy. Nice effort from a brewery I love and get what I can here on the east coast

Look: Hazy cream-orange with a rocky, persistent yellow-orange head.
Smell: Floral hop aroma. Pine, vanilla. Sweet orange and grapefruit.
Taste: Very juicy. Orange juice, peach, mango, pineapple. Hints of vanilla with minty, herbal hops throughout. Some nice citrus/herbal dryness perfectly balances the sweet juiciness.
Feel: Thick-bodied. Slightly grainy and lightly carbonated. Like pulpy orange juice with seltzer.
Overall: A really nice hazy IPA. Would love to pick this one up again.

Hazy orange colored ale with a medium sized off-white colored head.

Smells of pine sap and resin. Lesser scent of citrus and grapefruit. Just not that aromatic.

Starts out mildly sweet and with a restrained bitterness. Very mild taste. Mostly mild pine and grapefruit.

Mouthfeel is OK. is just OK.

Solid across the board! Big hits of citrus juiciness on the nose and tongue with enough zing of bitterness to keep it interesting. This is my kinda West Coast hazy IPA and after having it both fresh on draft and 8 months old from a 22 oz can, it stands up very well a bit aged thanks in part to it being can conditioned.

I’d hit this again and again! Bravo Deschutes!

Pours a hazy dirty orange with a thick white head with decent staying power. Nice lacing. Aroma is a great blend of citrus. Flavor is sweet citrus, honey and just a hint of pine. Feel is on the lighter side of medium bodied. Decent carbonation. Overall a pleasure to drink.

Pours a hazy burnt orange color with a light tan head, the nose is filled with aromas of juicy oranges and, in a nice touch, a light caramalt aroma.

The oranges, courtesy of the Mandarina Bavaria hops, are center stage on the taste, but they allow plenty of room for the malt to maneuver, which is not always true with this style. I’m really digging this.

12 oz can poured into a pint glass.

L - Pours a (fittingly) hazy, cloudy, almost murky copper orange color. A very foamy inch of white head that sticks around and leaves a generous lacing.

S - Honey, orange, grapefruit, slightly piney with some tropical fruit as well.

T - Bitter citrus rind, orange, tangerine, bready malt, honey, grassy hops, very astringent alcoholic bite towards the end. Very juicy and not overpoweringly sweet with the bitter hops throughout.

F - Medium bodied, mild carbonation, not sticky but with a slightly dry finish. Refreshing and fairly balanced.

O - Another nice offering from one of my favorite breweries in the northwest. A little more bitter/astringent than expected. The haze is very pronounced, has a creamy character to it, and is a nice change from a standard IPA. I think I'd prefer the Fresh Squeezed over this, but still a nice offering.

12 oz. can poured into a can glass.

Though it is fairly soft and hazy I would not quite call this an NEIPA. I would however call it damn tasty and a pleasure to drink. Rich tropical nose, a little piney and dank. Taste is bitter citrus with the same small pine character showing in the nose. For me the only detractor is a bit of astringency at the finish. Nice beer!

The depth of flavor in this beer is incredible; it’s a rich, complex, malty citrus brew, with a perfect feel — not too thick, not too light. I’ve tried other hazy IPAs, but none compare. This is an all-time beer, in my book.

Appearance: Pours a completely cloudy, but still beer and not syrup, deep orange color with a strong head that lingers nicely.
Aroma: Aromas of mandarin orange, peach, apricot, pineapple & papaya. But prominent benzene, gasoline, and glue like aroma. Very much like a marker or bottle of glue. I would describe the aroma as a peach Sharpie.
Flavor: Strong gasoline and glue immediately that fades into a pineapple and peach fruitiness. A faint oat milk malt. Bitterness is nearly non-detectable. Finishes slightly sweet, but it's hard to tell over the glue and marker flavor left on the tongue. Maybe it's the alcohol, maybe its the glue?
Feel: Body is medium and slightly creamy, but not overly so. Nice creamy body but not too heavy. Finishes slightly sweet.

Overall: I don't know what happened here. The gasoline and glue flavor was surprising. Not sure if anyone else detected this, or maybe this was a bad batch. Nice peach and stonefruit which is sometimes hard to showcase in an IPA. This was definitely not was I was expecting. A peach & pineapple Sharpie all the way. Anyone else get this?

O: description is spot on with heavy orange flavors

Bright, juicy, and hop forwards, this beer brings most things that you expect from a hazy IPA to the table. Yet, it is also relaxed enough that you could have it down at the creek, or on your back porch.

it was only a matter of time before they did this right? i mean, fresh squeezed went gang busters, has since it was released really, and so to riff on that with the hottest style in beer makes a lot of sense, and while this didnt floor me the way fresh squeezed did the first time i tasted it, it is really good, better than a lot of these, and has a really nicely selected hop profile with the mandarina and the simcoe especially, they go so well together and the best aspects of both are on full display in the nose and flavor of this. not super thick looking, and a shade deeper in color than a lot of these, a fuller fluffy feel with enough carbonation to keep it drinkable, off dry though, a little sweetness all the way through it, not sure if i love that element, but the hops are fresh and forward, even explosive, and just mouthwatering the whole way. bright orange and tangerine notes, the sweetness works here, but then a little bitter grapefruit zesty layer from the simcoe wants to stand without that. the amarillo is lost a little for me, maybe a little bit of a drippy melon wrinkle, but the other two lead the way, at least on my palate. enough bite at the end too, more than most, and i always like that in my ipa. this is delicious, even if not quite as striking as i wanted it to be, and even if it is trend following rather than setting, which is what i know these guys for. ill drink my share of this one...
