Very Good
Notes: Introducing Fresh Haze IPA, our newest IPA is hazy with a chance of obsession. The flavor explodes in your mouth with notes of orange citrus sweetness and a soft malt body. Carrying both citrus and tropical fruit from Mandarina, Amarillo and Simcoe hops…OJ for days.

Love Fresh Squeezed, so when I saw this fresh new arrival, I got excited. I was expecting something a little hazier and juicier from the description. Nose is marmalade and honey, but could have been bigger. As I mentioned, the taste wasn't as juicy as I was expecting. However, pretty solid IPA flavor that leaned toward orange and not so much pine. Honestly, I find that mandarina hop is nice but just doesn't pack a punch. Overall, a pretty decent beer, but I'd rather have a Fresh Squeezed.

As a person that has been consistently disappointed with Deschutes hoppy beers, I'm really happy to report they finally made a winner! This opinion is based on two six packs that were about 1 month old at different sampling times.

The most impressive thing about this beer is the taste. Compared to other $10/6 beers, it explodes with citrus flavor. Mostly bright orange with about 20% lemon. Typical of a generous quantity of Amarillo. It has a Cascade like green hoppy flavor in the middle. There are some light floral and herbal notes in the finish.

The malt is certainly softer and fuller than old school WCIPAs, but the hops gradually build on the palate to remind me why I want to drink this beer a lot more than once. This is not an NEIPA juice beer with minimal bitterness. Thank goodness!

This is much better than Fresh Squeezed. It's not even close. I'll be happy to buy this as long as the current recipe remains true. Thanks for brewing it!

Not to hazy other than kind of a chill haze. olden/orange in color with lots of visible carbonation. Two finger head made of large foamy bubbles just slightly off white in color.

Smells like citrus pulp. Also picking up something like a tropical fruit similar to pineapple. Smells refreshing.

Taste is orange pulp up front followed by a slight bitterness that seems like an orange rind. Taste dissapears quickly while the bitterness sticks around for just a bit. Maltiness seems to off balance the hops by a bit more on the taste.

Mouth feel is light and finishes quickly off the back of the mouth. There is a faint lingering bitterness.

This seems totally different than the Fresh Squeezed IPA from Deschutes. The bitterness is quite a bit lighter. And the flavor does not seem to be as full, just seems a bit thinner. The ABV does not show at all in the taste and the drinkability is very easy and smooth. Even though this does feel a bit thin on the nose presence and the flavor body, I like it. I had a 19.2 oz. can and when I poured the second half of the beer I found a bit more haze. Perhaps some pulp hiding towards the bottom of the can? For fans of an easier drinking IPA without a lot of bitterness and some orange presence this should fit the bill. Cheers!

Deschutes. Never. Disappoints. Just like the description, OJ for daze. I've yet to be less than amazed when I open a bottle or can from Deschutes. Kikazz!

Supremely balanced nose, with a solidly hoppy and juicy flavor. A good beer by all means. The appearance is truly hazy, with a mild, foamy ring. Good beer!

Appearance –The beer pours a hazy orange color with a one finger head of pure white foam. The head fades moderately fast to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is rich of tropical fruit and citrus sweetness with tons of tangerine, mango, papaya, and pineapple. Along with these smells comes a good deal of a yeasty and bready smell as well as some other hop aromas of grass and a tiny bit of pine.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweeter fruity taste that would be expected from the nose, with a big showing of tangerine and orange and a bit of other tropical fruit flavors. There is a doughty taste upfront, which loses more and more ground as the taste advances with it all drying out a bit as the taste gets to the end. Along with the loss of some doughy and sweet, so too comes more hop flavors of grass, herb, and a bit of pine. All the while a little bit of yeast and a tiny surge of tropical fruit comes at the very end, leaving one with a nice fruity and moderately, mostly citrus hopped, flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly chewier with a carbonation level that is average. For the sweeter citrus and tropical, and slightly bready and yeasty tastes, the feel is great and makes for a chewy, boozy, tropical orange juice like feel to the brew.
Overall – This was a rather enjoyable New England IPA. It’s rich in tropical fruits, has a decent hoppy blend, has some bready and chewy tastes, but also is nothing all that overwhelming. Overall a very good brew.

Deschutes Haze
Poured from a 32 Oz traveler. Available on tap in Norfolk, NE
Orange hazy brew with quarter inch of foam. Smells ofpapaya and citrus. Taste is unripe papaya, citrus pith, light mango, mildly acerbic, sweetness sneaks through toward finish. Medium creamy mouthfeel. Dry lightly bitter pith finish. Overall this is a quite good, smooth creamy with a nice ascerbic bitterness and mango sweetness.

Best by 12/14/18

A- pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a one-finger foamy white head that has decent retention

S- citrusy hop aroma with notes of orange peel, grapefruit, as well as some light tropical notes. Undertones of toasted malt

T- citrusy hop notes follow the nose, orange marmalade, grapefruit zest, resin, guava undertone. The finish is slightly malty and toasted

M- medium body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and finish

O- a solid IPA, but judging against other NEIPA, it's just average

A sixer of cans ran me $9.99 USD at a beer store in Castle Rock, Colorado.

"India Pale Ale." 45 IBUs. 6.50% ABV.

Candied fruit, citrus, orange juice, resins. This bursts with orange flavours, committing to them in spades. It's a bit too sweet and juice-like for my tastes (one wouldn't be far off to compare it less to orange and more to Sunny Delight) but it does have a fresh taste to it and those who crave IPAs with minimal bitterness and juicy flavour profiles will be more likely to enjoy it.

I find it too imbalanced and lacking in hop pungency to really be worthy expression of the style. Deschutes has long been a favourite brewery, but this trendchase of an effort can't hold a candle to the vast majority of beers in their lineup.

Pulpy, green, citrusy, though it lacks a cleanliness of hop character, coming through uneven and a little overripe.

I dig me some Deschutes, but I wish I'd bought Fresh Squeezed.
