Had it on draft at a local pub in a snifter. Very deep dark brown with a great light brown head and nice lacing. This beer is wonderfully silky smooth with a rich dark chocolate smell and taste. Chocolate taste lingers on your palate. No bitterness and surprisingly not boozy for the ABV. It warms well. A very nice beer!

22oz bottle. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, tan head of foam. Smelled dark chocolate, char, vanilla and oak. Strong oaky, charred flavor with chocolate, vanilla and toffee.

Pours a rich black color. There's minimal head, but what's there is brown and not long lasting. It dissipates into a ring on the side of the glass.
The nose is rich and deep. I get cocoa notes on it. There's a lot of notes from the barrel as well that makes it smell boozy.
Taste - consumed at 59 degrees F - Chocolate, and almost a pepper like component up front. The chocolate gets a bit sweeter on the backside, mixed in with some caramel notes, Nice notes added from the barrel.
The body is fairly full. It is smooth drinking. It has a mellow alcohol feel, not harsh, just slightly warming.
Very delicious and almost too easy drinking. Full flavored, and has a nice body. Solid, and delicious beer.

Pours black, collar of mocha head settles in fine bubbles.
Smells of cocoa, dark fruit.
Taste is chocolate milk, hints of caramel, coffee, and licorice. I'm not getting much in the way of barrel though
Thick, creamy mouthfeel. No heat or burn from the abv
Overall, really nice stout, though doesn't taste much like barrel aged. Regardless, I wouldn't mind picking up another bottle in the future.

Exceptional aroma primarily of bitter chocolate and oak. But good gracious, this beer is HOT! I like some alcohol burn, but this is the most overwhelmingly alcoholic tasting beer I have ever had (and I've had plenty that have been 15-20%). The alcohol completely overwhelmed the other flavors, which like the nose, were primarily bitter chocolate and dry, dry oak. I LOVED Black Butte XXVI, but have been disappointed in all of the offerings since, and this one is by far the worst.

The dutched cocoa was excellent in this porter, really gave the feel an enhanced fullness without the overbearing weight. The oak barrels were more woody and dry compared to previous years, but went great with the cocoa, dark dried fruits and salted caramel flavors. Decadent tasting, rich smelling, and nice textures.

Delicious, rich, decadent imperial porter tried on tap at local bar. Nice dark black color with a little lingering head and very spotty lacing. Smells great, roast coffee, chocolate and dark fruit. Tastes of dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, raisin, bourbon, wood, plum, vanilla, caramel and malt. Smooth, mild, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Perfect amount of carbonation. I don’t really taste any salt, though. An excellent beer from a great brewery.

In my teku the beer was black with a small, quickly disappearing head.
Strong chocolate and oak aroma, with a hint of alcohol.
Oak and chocolate taste up front, slight whiskey.
Medium-bodied, great beer to sip and savor.

Thanks to nc41 for this one from NBS BIF #8, I had somehow neglected to grab a bottle. Waxed 650ml bottle poured into 14oz teku. Poured a solid black color with about 1/3 inch of tan head that had low retention and very light lacing.

A huge blast of chocolate and oak hit the nose as soon as I cracked the cap. After pouring, those aspects got stronger, and some alcohol was added to the mix. But damn, the chocolate was strong!!!!

On the tongue, the flavors didn't get stronger than the aroma, which is typical for me, everything stayed pretty much in the same proportions. The base beer was rich and roasty, the chocolate was dominant, and there was just enough oak to provide a pleasant countering tang.

The body was a bit of a weak point, I thought. Woulda liked it a bit fuller. Not that it was thin by any means, but a beer this big needs to assert itself, physically.

Drinkability was amazingly awesome. I could drink 2 bottles of this in a row, if it weren't for the inevitable nap that would surely follow. Overall, another example of why the BB Anniversary beers are on my perma-wants list. An absolute must try.

I like to review this one fresh and then review it when it is a bit older. Fresh review, it is exactly 4 months old. Very dark, minimal head and lacing. Roasty and chocolatey smell. Mild barrel notes. Taste is sweet and boozy. Almost like a barley wine on first drink. Chocolate is there but not overly pronounced. Definite barrel presence. Mouth watering, bold, flavorful, smooth, well rounded. Feel like they didn't go overboard on adding stuff to the beer like they have in the past. Tasty. It seems like I enjoy these more when they're aged, so I'm really looking forward to round two, as this was better than I was expecting.

Like life before the Kardashian’s, this one makes me happy. The beer is dark. Think dark like Dicken’s childhood - I’m sure that sucked. On the nose is robust dark chocolate, boozy liquors that your accountant probably drinks, and even a lil black licorice - how ‘bout dat? Taste is the same, and the only let down is the mouthful. It ain’t rich and robust like Kate Upton busting out of a corset. Now, don’t get Raul wrong, it’s not bad, but he just expected a lil more. Still a great beer.
