Very Good
Handup IPAHandup IPA
Notes: A nod to our cyclocross enthusiasts. A West Coast IPA with subtle caramel malt profile, aromas of tropical fruit, citrus and evergreen.

Brewed exclusively at our Portland Public House.

On draught at Frontier Brewing and Taproom.

Pours a lightly hazy pale gold with excellent head of foam and lacing.

Smells floral hoppy, grapefruit citrus, light cracker malt, juicy.

Taste matches the smell. Quite hoppy with a lighter level of bitterness.

Smooth mouthfeel easy drinking, this is a dandy.

Wow! A surprisingly bright, yet smooth and almost buttery mouthfeel. On tap at the original, yes, the original Deschutes Brewery, downtown Bend! Couldn't be happier!

Very much reminds me of Mirror Pond in color, aroma, and flavor, with just a smidgeon more of a punch to it. Classic pine and citrus peels with a dash of caramel and bready malt backbone. A good, easy drinking IPA. Cheers.

Clear deep gold with two fingers of bone color head. Rings of lace appear as the head drops.
Smell is floral slightly dank hops with some bread crust malts.
Taste is floral citrus hops slight dankness light pine. Malts are supportive without dumbing down the hop flavors.
Mouthfeel is light to medium with good carbonation. The finish is somewhat dry and medium bitter.
Overall a tasty IPA less sweet than the standard Inversion IPA. I enjoyed it.
Date is 8/20/19. So about three weeks old.

LOOKS: Dark golden/light amber with a large, creamy foam cap, and loads of tiny bubbles streaming up the glass. Nice lacing.
AROMA: Dank, a bit of pine, and some mild, pleasing tropical and citrus notes. Toffee or caramel bready notes.
TASTE: Bready malt, caramel, lemon, just a bit dank. Some minor citrus peel.
FEEL: Well carbonated, medium body, a little slick up front, and dries up on the finish.
OA: Pleasant, and balanced IPA, and not a hop bomb. Nothing new or different, just solid.

I had this beer on-tap in a pint glass at the Taproom at Pike Place in Seattle.

Appearance: nice golden hue with a crystal-clear body and a thin finger of white foam. Quite good.

Smell: citrusy hop aroma with a little bit of earthy undertone. Not super complex, but pleasant enough.

Taste: a bit on the sweet side with a nice dose of citrusy hops. There's a little bit of dankness here too, right at the end. Bitterness is a little raspy. Pretty decent.

Mouthfeel: medium-bodied with a moderate carbonation and creaminess. It's fine.

Overall: a pretty middle of the road IPA; well made but nothing outstanding happening here.
