Pours a reddish color with hints of brown. Mild haze. One finger cream colored head. Decent lacing left behind as the head dissipates.

Aroma of tart cherry, red grape, ripe plum and some oak. Mild acetic acid, leather, and citrus.

Tart cherry again on the tongue. Wine notes of red grape, oaky barrel notes, and ripe plum. A hint of diacetyl. Some vinegary tartness. Lemony citrus, hints of tart raspberry, vanilla and caramel.

Moderate mouth feel going towards thin. Medium carbonation. Some tartness but no where near sour. Dry on the finish.

This is a nice tart beer with notable wine characteristics. A bit of diacetyl on the flavor was slightly off-putting but it had plenty of other positive notes to offset that. This had a best after date of about 9 months in the future so I'm looking forward to cracking open my 2 other bottles down the road.

2014 bottle. Updated tasting after some well done bottle aging. Showing a lot better this time. A beautiful Flanders sour, probably one of the best that I've ever had. Can't wait to taste in one year!!

So close to being so awesome. Needs a little more pucker, more...something. I liked it, but I think it needs more, I don;t know, time? Sourness? I really like the cherry flavor. I enjoyed this beer but I think it needs something more to make it memorable.

Golden Amber beer with thin soapy head and great clarity. Some burnt sugars, sour cherry, fruit salad, pineapple, tangerine with a slick oily mouthfeel.

2014 Edition.

Pours an effervescent and translucent red-purple with no head or lacing.

Nose features funky yeast, fermented cherry, sour red wine tartness.

Taste is sour-sweet cherry with some hints of oak. Not the most sour, but it definitely fits the bill. It's almost like fermented black cherry juice aged in oak barrels... not a beer. Which is impressive. The woodiness is there on the back end but the aftertaste is red wine and cherry. The after-after taste (a minute since last sip) feels like a sweet Zinfandel. Which is also nice and very impressive. I can for sure see this mellowing out with a year on it. Becoming less sweet and less tart and more Pinot Noir like, but this is what I got now. Not sure I can afford to a age second one of these.

For the price I paid, and the ABV, and the style... this beer, ale, sour, wine like drink.. is surprisingly... quaffable. Yet, the next time you bring it to your lips, you want to savor it. Worth the price? Depends on your curiosity. I'm not a rich man and I can say I'm happy I bought this.
