With an immense hop flavor and bitter finish, this monumental IPA is an enigma worth pondering (see what we did there?). Centennial, Chinook, Cascade, and Galaxy hops come together to create a hop sanctuary. Revere the almighty hop!

This is their new version of Hop Henge Imperial IPA, the hops have been modified as of 1/2009.

22 oz. bomber w/best by date of 6/16/11 picked up at the local Bevmo poured into an imperial pint glass.

Vigorous pour yielded avg. white frothy head that disappeared as quickly as it arrived. Good lacing left behind. Clear light amber in color with a bit of carbonation bubbling in the glass.

Pine, alcohol, lemon zest, oranges. Mellow sweet caramel and fresh baked cookies add a nice malt complement to the sharp hop and alcohol qualities that hit you at first. Comes off fresh and balanced.

All sorts of hops dominate the flavor on this. Green veggies and fresh cut grass, citrus rind; sharp bitter finish hits and then mellows slightly. The sweet malt notes that were there on the nose have taken a big back seat but provide sufficient backbone to give some balance to a beer that leans heavily towards fresh green hop flavors. Alcohol is hidden amongst all that bitter pretty well.

Medium to light bodied for the style with bellow avg. carbonation leads to a bit of a thin feel. It's not bad...but doesn't measure up to the other qualities of the beer. This is where I think a little more maltiness would really balance this beer out and make it great. I will say that for all those hops...there is no astringent finish.

Overall I really enjoyed this one and could easily drink a couple bombers. It's not my favorite Double IPA...but if you are craving a DIPA with really fresh hops, a pleasing bitter finish, doesn't dry out your palate, and can hide 9% ABV, then you should give this a try. Cheers!

A beautifully clear, sunset orange to this beer, with a thin head of foam that sticks around for a few minutes leaving great lace. The smell is distinctly of salted licorice, oddly. The flavor overwhelms me at first, with huge sweet fruity kicks beneath a silky, burnt barrel flavor, all finishing out with a highly alcoholic warmth. It's difficult for me to rate this beer. I'll be unhappily drinking the rest of the six pack, as it's a little much for me. Needs a fuller body to stand behind all the flavor, and more balance generally.

12 Oz bottle. Best before 05/07/2019
I don't normally review a beer that's past it's expiration date but somehow a review of this one slipped through the cracks when I started buying it a while ago. While this seasonal beer is no longer made, Winco continues to sell it (and I've continued to drink it!) Haven't noticed much of a drop off.

Pours a solid orange-gold body . White head yields good retention and lacing. Some visible carbonation

Smell is a little hop forward. Papaya and peach mostly with an underlying malt presence

The taste is what keeps me coming back. The malts provide an exceptional backbone. I have trouble discerning any alcohol. I know it's there but I don't taste it. It's such a smooth beer.

Excellent feel. Smoother then a baby's bottom. And it's an IPA?!

Overall a WOW beer for me.

Poured from a single serve bottle into a tulip.

Pours a cloudy golden with an excellent head that quickly leaves the party, but good lacing throughout. Nothing spectacular, but solid.

The nose is awash with tropical and citrus fruits. Ruby red grapefruit, pineapple, mango. Hints of peach and white grape. Just a hint of pine and grass. No alcohol noticeable in the aroma. The aromas are very pleasing, balanced, and strong.

The brew has a solid caramel/toffee/biscuit malt base, with good fruity citrus and tropical flavors. Dangerously sweet for the style as a result, but with an excellent hop presence at the finish. The ABV is very well hidden. The flavor isn't as complex as the aroma, but it is still tasty.

Medium bodied, this brew has excellent carbonation, which balances the strong malt presence. Not "crisp" by any means, but never sticky.

A good DIPA that balances malt and hops very well. One of the best-hidden ABV's I've had.

12 oz bottle best by 3/13/19. Poured into pint glass, a slightly cloudy orange, with a one finger head that moves instantly to a thin layer of lace. Aroma of orange citrus, stone fruit, and some dirt/grass. Taste is right in line, with a zesty vegetal bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full, with a medium amount of carbonation. Overall, an interesting imperial ipa. It takes a little getting used to, must be a certain hop variety to get the he stone fruit and grass notes.
