Served on tap in Boise in a pint glass
A - Yellowish-gold with a modest white head. To the beers benefit, the head stays intact all the way down the glass and the lacing is decent.
S - A hint of hops and pear scent on a strong malt background. Not nearly as hoppy as I hoped and expected.
T - A little bit of alcohol and pear flavor upfront The body is light and a little malty. Hops barely begin to peak through in the finish, which is surprisingly dry. Not surprisingly, pear flavors come through in the finish and linger on into the aftertaste. Not a bad beer, but not what I would consider to be an American IPA. This seemed more like a cross between an English IPA and a fruit beer.
M - Moderate body with a good amount of carbonation. It seemed to fit the beer well
D - Not one of my favorite offerings from Deschutes, but a decent beer all in all. I wouldn't seek this beer out, but would order it again if the beer selection were limited. This beer reminded me a bit of Magic Hat's #9....only better.

Comes in darker than expected 3/4" head. The aroma wasn't really hoppy, was more of a tree that lost all of its needles or leaves.
Taste was real mellow, more like an English IPA if you ask me. Its totally balanced. Mirror Pond Pale Ale used to taste hoppier than this. Some mild citrus hop notes, but really a lot of malt to achieve balance if you're into that kind of thing.
