Poured into a snifter on site.

A - Pours a copper orange wth a 2 fingered off-whte head. Dissipates fast and leaves little lacing.

S/T - Bourbon, sour cherries, honey, lightly spiced hops and light bittering hops as well.

M - Full-bodied, malt dominated, slightly sweet with the presence of light alcohol.

D - Great overall. A very enjoyable quaff that is not offered in Cali.

Description: This strong Belgian Ale is full of flavor and draws its coloring from the addition of sour cherries during its final resting. This is a version of the very popular "Streaking the Quad" that was featured at the Belgian Cheers to Belgian Beers Festival.

On tap at the Portland brewpub. The beer is served in a snifter, appearing dark orange with a red tint when held to light. The small fizzy head quickly dissipates.

The aroma is of candied and brown sugar and fresh cherries. There's a subtle tartness in the nose, but the base Quad is still recognizable with sweet bready notes. The cherries add a nice touch to the flavor, and become pretty dominant as the beer warms. Candied sugar is noticeable again, and the finish is sweet cherries and bready malt with some warming alcohol.

The beer is medium bodied with a low level of carbonation and a sticky mouthfeel. An interesting twist on a classic style.

On-Tap @ Portland Brew Pub, poured into Snifter glass.

Pours a murky burnt orange color with an off-white fizzy head that quickly dissolves and leaves a streaky layers. Nice Lacing. The aroma is full of cereal, yeast and plenty of sour cherry aroma. The flavor has sweet cherry upfront and is accompanied by more cereal, raisin, yeast and finishes dry. Its medium bodied and is very effervescent. I was not a big fan of the base beer, Streaking the Quad. With that said this beer really was a different beast with those cherries added. The cherries become all this beer tastes and smells like as it warms up to room temperature which I think is the ideal serving temp. Very tasty stuff.

This bitter cherry infused Belgian-style strong ale follows on the heals of Deschutes' Streaking the Quad, which may have been Portland's first ever quad. The beer is notably smooth for an ale of this potency. Potential excesses of spiced yeast esters never emerge. Neither does any intrusive alcohol. Instead, Belgian influenced golden ale parameters hold the backbeat while bitter cherry aroma and flavor integrate nicely. The beer is gently sweet with a rimmed head and sensible balance. The cherries also lend themselves to the sensual maroon color.

Remarkably informal for a beer of such structural complexity.
