This is one of my favorite pale ales, in the top 3. I have consumed cases of it, so this is not a flippant rating based on one sample, like some do. It is surprisingly dark for a pale ale: light brown, with a touch of red. Average head, which lingers quite a while. The taste is clean, with just the right level of hops for a pale ale (more than average, I'd say). The malt is well-balanced, enough to gain one's attention without overwhelming. Overall, plenty of flavor but smooth and easy to drink.

An interesting northwest IPA with a malty finish. The beer Poor's with a strong foamy head. You can smell the pine presence and pick up on that along with a perfect malt finish. Great beer - a nice hoppy red ale.

Pours amber. Thick, medium, off white head. Lasts a while with good lacing.

Smells pine, malt, light citrus and earthy.

Tastes bready malt and pine. Fading to lightly citrus and earthy. Finishes dry with a pine linger medium body and smooth lower medium carbonation

Look-This NWPA pours a brilliant orange copper color with a one finger thick foamy head. The lacing is sparse, but thin and moist.

Smell-The aroma is full of pine and apricot, but I also get a caramel-based malt.

Taste-The flavor is bright and full of evergreen forest pine, citrus like apricot and orange peel zest, and then finishes with a hop resin coating. It has a well-balanced flavor and a great fizzy carbonation level. The alcohol content, 6.2%, gives an added bite to the pine. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied, sticky, and juicy.

Overall-This is a great beer and is expertly crafted by our friends from Deschutes. Cheers!

Bottle to pint glass. Pours a beautiful amber color, medium light brown head without too much persistence, just a bit of lacing. Fantastic hops aroma - smells like a coniferous forest. Taste - dominant hops on the front, but surprisingly low aftertaste. The bottle suggests a "clean finish" and I get what they mean - goes down very easy for a pale ale. Delicious & highly drinkable.
