Clear amber colour producing a decent head which fades rather too soon leaving light lacing.

Flavor is more malt forward than anything I'd associate with a pnw label. Malt is thankfully quite present if not dominant. Hops are quietly bitter, laying down a bass line with alternate high hat fruit notes. Carbonation is perfect.

Quite wonderful.

Delicious but very different APA. Caramel, honey, toffee, sweetness, and some bitterness from the hops. Great beer and so different from the traditional APA that it deserves its own category.

My favorite Deschutes offering. It must be the caramel malt. Very balanced very tasty but nothing stands out of the balance. It is the perfect release for this time of year.

Pours a rather dark amber, with a small head that lasts about a minute. Aroma is very caramely with fruity hints and some floral hops. Flavor is similar but with an additional bubblegum element. The bitterness doesn't show up until the very end. This is a very nice and surprisingly complex ale.

Can't quite dial in on this one. Remember seeing ole dog drinking it a Storm's party back in the day. Montana weather, party and beer. Was offered but I thought it would be just another hoppy pale. I like. Will revisit once my palate comes back. I only sought this out based on reviews so I need to really sit down and take notes. On that quest of great pales. Realizing zombie dust wouldn't always be available had to find alts.

12 oz bottle in a tulip glass, BB 4/6/2017
Pours a bright gold. Aroma is floral and herbal with notes of candied orange. Orange comes through in the taste. Sweet caramel and bready malt background. Nice bitterness. A distinctive and strongly-flavored beer.
