This brew pours a hazy copper color with a tiny head which dissipates quickly and virtually no lacing.

The smell is pungent with hints of floral hops, caramel, orange and watermelon.

The taste mostly follows the nose with melon and orange at the start, moving to a caramel malt backbone then finishing with some melon leading to a slightly dry and bitter finish. This brew is by no means near Deschutes' best but it would serve a "session" IPA and might be a good way to introduce someone to their first taste of hops however hopheads will want to look for something better.

I tried this from the 12oz in a matching Deschutes Teku.

The color is a bright amber with thick head with fine bead and lasting retention. The smell is great - mild pine with some stone fruit and tangerine-like citrus hop aroma. The feel has a very good balance between the malt and hops with perhaps a bit more emphasis on the bitterness with moderately high carbonation and low astringency with slight spice tinge and a moderately dry finish with low alcohol influence.

The taste is very good with spicy citrus hop profile with a mild pine taste that is complimentary with the malt but citrus dominates with a slight malt sweetness and gentle toast with a mildly sweet quality that blends well with the orange-like flavor and mild astringent aspect in the back. The hops have a lingering bitter flavor with a long dry finish. Overall I loved this -this is great for the style a top notch pale ale with good blend of herbal and pine with citrus in the hop flavor. This is well made and very drinkable I would definitely drink this again if I were to see it on tap.

On tap. Both on nitro and regular forced carbon dioxide. This is a NW hop forward hoppy ale with a nice balance of rich grainy, slightly caramel malt to balance out the big hop aroma and flavor. Preferred the creamy mouthfeel and overall balanced taste on nitro.

The bottle label says it is bottle conditioned but after the pour the beer is clear with a dark amber hue. More than one finger of head forms and has good retention. Heavy lacing is left down the glass. Has an aroma that somewhat reminds me of Juicy Fruit. Notes of tropical fruit and fruity esters. Flavor comes off as very bitter for an APA. Nice tropical fruit flavor and some sweet caramel malt that tries to balance the bitterness. Nice creamy mouth feel complimented by the carbonation. Maybe this beer is too close to its best buy date that it did not overly impress me.
