Pours perfectly clear, amber orange colour. Faint whitish head with good lacing. Light carbonation.

Smells like pine, grapefruit, bready malt. Hop aroma is fresh, but not too intense.

Really well-balanced citrusy/minty/herbal hop flavour, underlaid by a noticeable malty sweetness.

Nice mouthfeel, perfect amount of body here. Highly drinkable, though just a little too sweet. Overall, a really excellent brew on draft or in bottles.

Pour is a deep amber hue, nice clarity with a frothy white head with nice sticky lacing. Aroma consists of sappy wet pine, subtle tropical aromas with a nice citrus background. Sweet malt in the foreground. Another heavy dose of pine in the taste compliments the hop bitterness in the back end. Subtle grapefruit and bready malt. Mouthfeel is slick and oily, thin bodied with moderate carbonation. Definitely a well balanced, pine bomb. Solid

had this on tap, chose it off the menu at a Red Robin.
REALLY< REALLY one of the best IPA's Ive ever tried.

A honey colored, ultra clarity, lots of impressive lacing.

S OHHH la la - super sharp hopiness - Im thinking pine forest

T follows the nose - the hop character is nearly perfect.

M just a bit oily - good malt background

D to be savored.

A mild and excellently balanced IPA. Not quite on the level of Head Hunter, say, but has a caramel richness in the aftertaste that Head Hunter lacks. This beer is also much cheaper than Head Hunter, and has a lower ABV. A great value.

12 oz bottle into pint glass. Deep golden amber color, lace was a little watery and did not stick long. Sweet, floral, honey smell. Taste = citrus, grapefruit bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, moving towards syrupy, but not quite DIPA standard. This a tastey one. I enjoyed it and recommend.

Is it just me or is this beer quite ester-ey? I feel like a lot of the "fruit" in it comes from fermentation esters, and when the beer is cold, it's not so bad, but as it warms, it gets distinctly bubble-gum flavored and scented to me.

Good IPA. It was suggested to me by a friend, so I picked up a bottle. Good color (yellow with some lacing) and carbonation, great flavor (fruit and hops), crisp finish, strong hops all the way through. I'd get this one again.

I generally prefer APA's or DIPA's as they generally have a better malt:hop balance. But for a midrange IPA this beer is terrific.

I will definitely buy this again.

Good summer beer. Nice fruit flavors and nice hops. The carbonation is on point and is very drinkable. I'd like the hop flavor to be a bit more forward.

Aroma: grapefruit and sweet malt
Look: red-gold, great head
A great, assertive flavor. Pine, grapefruit, sweet bread, mango, pineapple. Quite good. Some spice. Bright aftertaste and assertive bitterness.
Moderate mouthfeel and carbonation.

Well-balanced IPA, tasty hops, not too bitter, hint of citrus, very refreshing as a summer beer. One of the best beers I've tried period.

Drank out of bottle so couldn't see color.

OK I have had this a few times over the past couple weeks on draft. Simply put...it's amazing. A little darker than a traditional west coast IPA. This lends to a little more malt on the palate...not as dry.

Smell is fruity and citrus with hints of grapefruit and some pine as well.

Taste is balanced with a subdued hop bitterness, fruit and citrus notes with a very nice malt balance.

Overall just a delicious refreshing IPA that I will go back to again and again. This would be a fantastic gateway IPA for you to lure your friends to. This is not saying that it's week or tame, but the balance of the fruit, citrus, bitterness, and mouth-feel is just so pleasant.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a snifter. Best by date is 9/23/16 for whatever that's worth.

A: Pours a slightly hazy, dark, reddish-Amber color with a reddish-tan, one-inch head with short retention. Small amounts of thin reddish-tan lacing throughout.

S: Mostly aromas of pine, grapefruit, and citrus. Mild tropical fruit and sweet malt undertones.

T: Taste is an exact match to aromas. Straight grapefruit and piney hop flavors with very slight fruity and sweet malt notes.

F: Light-medium bodied, smooth, and crisp with good carbonation.

O: Overall, a great go-to, regularly available IPA. Love this piney grapefruit bomb. Very easy drinking.

355ml bottle poured into tulip.

Pours a deep copper-orange with half a finger of beige head that leaves splotchy lace as it recedes.

Smells of fresh-squeezed orange juice, grapefruit zest, tropical fruit, pine sap, caramel biscuits and further pine and citrus hops.

Tastes of blood orange and grapefruit flesh, mango, pineapple, more sweet biscuity malt, pine and bitter citrus hoppiness.

Feels bright and perky. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Finishes dry.

Verdict: Vigorously recommended, even if you don't really like IPAs.

Another win from Deschutes brewery.

Looks Darkish amber. Pale blond head that simmers down to great lacing.

One of the best smelling IPAs I have ever had. Smells of tropical fruit, citrus, sea salt.

The Citra hops really come through. Quite bitter for only being 60 IBU. Pungent grapefruit aftertaste that will drive some fans out there wild.

Somehow feels crisp, full... AND light --all at the same time. Unbelievable.

I can only deduct points based on personal preference, not end product. Fantastic IPA. Cheers Deschutes!

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

L: Pours a hazy gold/amber gold with a 1 finger head. Only a bit of lacing.

S: Abundance of citrus up front, along with some caramel and yeast. A very appealing nose.

T/F: Wonderfully strong flavor, with a lot of citrus, with some added pine, and a little bit of malt backbone. Mouthfeel is creamy and full, but a substantial amount of carbonation helps to give it a bite (in a good way). You definitely get the bitterness at the end, but it is not overwhelming.

O: Very tasty IPA! I want to say it is a balanced IPA, but only in that for a beer with a strong hop flavor, it isn't overly bitter.

Pours a dark amber-orange with a frothy white head.

Orange juice, honeydew, and vanilla. The nose matches the flavor profile. Very soft and easy drinking. Medium bitterness but a clean finish.

Soft mouthfeel. Starts with prickly carbonation, but velvety at the end. Probably the best IPA I've had out of a bottle. Really good stuff.

Reddish brown color. Smells of berries, apples, and honey. Apple upfront, melon and hops in the finish. While the beer provides some interesting and uncommon set of flavors, I find it a bit too syrupy.

What's with the high ratings? this is super underwhelming...Very plain, unremarkable, forgettable. Had alongside Pizza Port Swami, no comparison..Swami killed it.

This one has garnered a lot of chatter, so I bought a couple loose bottles at a PDX grocery store.
BB: 10/14/16

Underwhelming is an understatement. A bit flat, no head, no lacing, and no hop taste other than as bitter aftertaste. Just very plain.

There are a lot of very high ratings here, which honestly astounds me. But a common sentiment of those who like this seems to be: "I don't usually like IPAs, but...." or "I don't often go for IPAs, but....."

So. An IPA for those who dislike IPAs. 'Nuff said.

On tap. Caramel color, off white head with a little lacing.

Strong strong alpha hops, grapefruit and clementine on both the nose and in the taste. Just a hint of toastiness.

Sort of a burnt aftertaste and a little bitter. Rough but crisp on the tongue.

Very refreshing but not the best hop-overload IPA I've had.

I poured this from a bottle into a clear teardrop glass. It pours a beautiful Amber with a very nice one finger white head. IPAs have never been my favorite--I'm just not a huge hops guy--but this one is marvelous! The perfect blend of citrus hops does it for me. World class for sure!

Pours an amber/copper color and comes with a pretty big hit of pine that seems to go hand in hand with the appearance. Definitely has the west coast pedigree as far as the combination of pine resin, hoppy citrus oils, high clarity in the glass, and sticky malt presence in the finish. Aromas meld orange peel and grapefruit. Alcohol notes are subdued but it definitely drinks like a bigger IPA than your run of the mill offering because of that caramel malt backbone. The tacky quality left on my lips after having a bottle of this beer lingers for a while after finishing. Would really like to get this in package stores in CT but alas this is only a beer I can get while traveling, at least for now.

The name will fool but this one is all about the hops. No fruit. Fruit of the hop. Citra reigns in this one. Great food beer. For an IPA this one is great for a hot day on the golf course.

A bit late reviewing this as the bottle label's BEST BY date is 12/18/15

Excellent copper hued body; lots of lively carbonation; very thick, dense, creamy head. Resinous hop aroma with some sweet caramel scent. Clean, fruity malt taste with a fine and intense hop bitterness. Medium-heavy body; some residual sugars yet mostly finishes dry.

Well, I owe it to the brewery and myself to try a fresh sample of this beer. As this particular bottle goes, I still like it quite a bit. It delivers a fine hop bitterness flavor although I found the aroma to be somewhat subdued (probably due to aging). So looks like I'll see about scoring some newer bottles ASAP...
