This mouthwateringly delicious IPA gets its flavor from a heavy helping of Citra and Mosaic hops. Don't worry, no fruit was harmed in the making of this beer.

12 oz bottle poured into Imperial pint glass.

L - Pours a deep copper color with orange tinting and about a finger of bubbly, off-white head, that dissipates quick and leaves a good lacing throughout.

S - Citrus: orange, lemon, grapefruit zest. Some tropical fruit sweetness and a strong peace presence. A very sweet smelling IPA with some piney hops lingering on the nose.

T - Big, juicy citrus and peach flavors up front. Definitely getting a "fresh squeezed" vibe with all the ripe fruit notes. The citrus rind and dank hops give it a nice bitter bite. Very clean and balanced.

F - Light, smooth, and thin, with good prickly carbonation. A very drinkable beer with a slightly creamy and dry finish.

O - I thought this would be more along the lines of a "fruity" beer, but much like the other beers Deschutes offers, this is a very excellent representation of a strong IPA. It offers the hoppy, piney, alcohol bite of a classic IPA with just the right balance of fruit and sweetness to make it a refreshing, drinkable beer. I can definitely see myself picking up a few of these in the summer for something that packs a bit more punch.

I'm a big fan of Deschutes ... and this beer is certainly one of the reasons.

Picked up a bottle at the grocery. Had never heard of Deschutes or seen it before around Philadelphia. Very glad I tried this. Loved the beer. Looked great. Nice Amber color and bursting smell and taste. Fruit and hops. Loved it and will definitely pick up more. A new favorite.

12oz bottle poured into pint glass, best by 6/17/17.
L - Copper brown body with a half finger of slightly tan, smooth, white foam.
S - Deep fruity citrus notes, definitely a hint of grapefruit and clear mosaic/citrus hop presence.
T- Juicy and slightly sweet grapefruit, very hoppy but also balanced. Delicious hop resin finish
F - Smooth medium-thin feel that really does melt on your tongue. The carbonation seems a bit higher than most ipad giving this a slightly dry finish.
O - I have been drinking this beer for years and finally put in the time to rate it. One of my favorites and I recommend this to anyone who likes IPAS or is just getting into drinking craft beer.

Wow, the definition of fresh, with strong peaches and apricots and melon on the nose and tongue, very clean palate, well layered with wood and bread coming in mid palate, nice hoppy punch at the back but it quickly disappears with very little aftertaste. At 6.4% it doesn't have the punch of stronger IPAs but it's all in the balance. A go-to for me lately.

This pours a nice copper brown with little head and lacing. The aroma is very nice, very citrusy with maybe a hint of pine. The taste is light, maybe almost too light for an IPA (for my taste anyway) with more citrus flavor coming through. The mouth feel is very nice, and overall this is very drinkable. Seems like a nice IPA for a hot summer day, you could have a few without falling down!

This starts real well, with a hige rocky head and thck, spotty lace. Nose is interesting, featuting citrus, mint and wood notes. Overall it is dank and hoppy and delicious.

Heavily favorful and balanced. Very mellow despite all the taste. I get bread malts, fresh pine, black pepper, mango and pineapple, and a late touch of peppermint. Really strong. Mouthfeel gives almost perfect delivery. Close to being a game changer. More please.

A favorite of mine, decided to review it. 12-oz bottle into a pint glass...

L: A clear, red-amber body, excellently carbonated with a two-finger beige head of extremely fine bubbles that leaves lots of lacing. Gorgeous.

S: Mosaic hops... mmm... fresh-squeezed mandarin orange, passion fruit, apricot, mango, honeydew melon and white cherry, a hint of pine, then the sourness dissipates, leaving notes of sourdough, yeast and a bit of brown sugar. Perfect tropical IPA aroma.

T: Sweet, very sour, then a tad bitter. That honeydew and mango are notable up front with ripe peach, passion fruit and raspberry, then orange (mostly juice, then a little rind), pine, and mellow, yeasty sourdough bread for the finish. Bitterness dies just before the bready sweetness does.

F: I can't find anything wrong with this beer. Thick and creamy for a single IPA, but it melts in your mouth for a slightly dry finish.

O: The archetype of a mellow tropical IPA. I don't think it can be done better. Awesome intro beer, of you're trying to manifest new IPA fans.

Poured a copper body with one-finger head. Floral and citric notes burst through in the aroma. Smooth, easy to drink citrusy/hoppy beer with notes of sweetness and a clean finish.

Bottle Date: best by 3/28/17
Palate Contaminants: other beer

The look is a clear, medium-deep amber. Plenty of fine head.

The main scents are malt and pine nuts. There's also some lemon rind, and I get a little bit of woody tea.

The taste is pretty mellow, yet clean. What's there in the nose is also there on the taste buds. It's sweet, but not cloying. The pine also shades more toward resin. Any citrus is reduced, but still there in the background, and I'd say it's more along the lines of white grapefruit.

The carbonation is a bit prickly, and the aftertaste is unfortunately mostly the bitterness that was previously merely behind the flavors.

What an exceptionally fresh and well-rounded IPA.

Nice head of foam that lingers longer than most American-made beers. It smells bright and happy, plenty of flavor, bitter after-taste.

Deschutes rocked this one. I've been drinking this for years and never really looked at the label and guess what, Mosaic hops! I knew it had a distinct taste but never looked at what it was brewed with. Gotta say, again, Mosaic hops are my favorite. Any IPA that is brewed with them is outstanding. The smell is very floral with lots of citrus. Taste is again very floral and citrus with grapefruit and orange peel. Way to go Deschutes.

L: juicy foam head, light cherry amber look, has a bright red tint like bottle label when light strikes, no worry no light struck, only for second just to see red tint.
A: pine and mild citrus
F: thin for juicy hops, spicy, floral, earthy.
T: piney, citrus, slightly malty, slightly sweet, spicy, floral, earthy, dry cherry finish
O: good but won't buy again since there are so many better IPA's on the market. Glad I got just 1. Stone and Founders Wet Hop have wrecked my palate to where a beer like this just doesn't do it for me. For juicy fresh squeezed hops my tongue should be numb and it's not. Also this is under 7 abv and too low for an IPA.

I promise to come back for a proper review. This is a go to because this is the best beer sold at one of our stores. I am rural. The smell is wonderful grapefruit citrus. A little floral and pine. The taste is amazing grapefruit, citrus, floral and piney finish. It is so juicy like you are eating citrus fruit and your mouth waters for another big sip. This stuff goes down smooth. I can actually chug these things enjoyably. No joke I have to hold myself back. They nailed this brew.

I received this 12 ounce bottle from my Dad in 2016. For an IPA it was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this beer to anyone looking for an outstanding IPA. BTW, this rating gets me to 400 Beer Karma points to become a Devotee. Yay! Thanks Beer Advocate!

Beautiful gold/amber color. Aroma is tropical fruits and citrus. Mango and pineapple, some orange/tangerine and a faint hint of peach. Bitterness comes in at the end with tastes of citrus rind and pune. Malts are mild and seem there for balance and body. Overall fantastic and easy to drink. Too easy to drink!

This is with out question a mouthwateringly and very delicious IPA. Citra and Mosaic hops burst through in a very heavy way and that is obviously a very awesome thing. One of the fruitier IPAs out there to the point you almost feel like your on a tropical island.

A former favorite of my mine. My palate doesn't enjoy it quite as much these days, but my nose certainly does. 12oz, poured into a pint glass.

APPEARANCE: Orangeish amber, surprisingly clear. Contrary to some of the other reviews on here, I noticed minimal haze. Not much in the way of lacing.

AROMA: A little weak, but this beer honestly smells amazing. The gamut of citruses (especially grapefruit), apricot, and some pine in the background. I could use this as cologne until they realize what's going on.

TASTE: No. No. This is not what my nose signed up for. This is betrayal. Excessive malt followed by a too-long lingering citrus+caramel (???) aftertaste. It's like the aroma's complexity is evaporating in my mouth. It's not terrible, but it leaves much to be desired.

MOUTHFEEL: As medium-bodied as it gets. Goes down smoothly, but leaves a prickle on your tongue.

OVERALL: 3.25. It's a solid beer, taste not withstanding. Unfortunately, like any reasonable human being, I consider taste to be a beer's most important factor. I certainly wouldn't reject it if offered... but honestly, I probably wouldn't reject any beer you offered me, either.

- maybe some berries in the background
- subtle fruit flavors
- some hop bitterness in the back
- a little bit of roastiness
- smooth, not creamy
- mild carbonation
- well balanced
- very drinkable
- definitely a foundation beer - that you would have in the fridge all the time

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a nice amber color and a somewhat hazy consistency. There was a half inch of foamy head that lasted an average amount of time. Good, but not great lacing.

S: A sweet aroma of hops, citrus, malt, and some pine.

T: Tasted of a good shot of hops, a lot of citrus (grapefruit and orange, in particular), a hint of pine (not as much as in the aroma), light malt, and some other fruit as well. A sweet and lively flavor that's not as heavy on the citrus as I would have guessed. Rather, it's a good balance of hops and fruit.

F: A well-carbonated beer with a prickly finish. Medium-bodied.

O: While this isn't quite as brilliant a beer as the score makes out, it is quite drinkable. Easy to drink.

I really enjoy this beer and consider it one of my favorites. I love that it is easy to drink while still having the citrusy/piney profile I enjoy in my everyday IPA. It carries a fresh fruity hop aroma. Definitely worth trying.

A: Bright grapefruit, citrus and light berry hoppy aroma with a light malt presence.

A: Copper color, totally clear, with a frothy white head that has solid retention, light lacing in the glass.

T: Big grapefruit, citrusy and light berry hoppy flavor that gives way to a light malt presence and faint sweetness.

M: Medium-light bodied, lightly juicy, with moderate carbonation.

O: Solid; the beer has a grapefruit, citrusy, berry presence and is lightly juicy with light malt support. All in all, pretty easy to drink when fresh!

Tons of beautiful and bitter hops flavor along with orange and other citrus with a great malt backbone. Had it on tap twice at Culinary Dropout in AZ and it's one of my favorite offerings from Deschutes yet.

It's not an in-your-face IPA like you'd expect because they focused on maximizing the fruity character of the hops they used rather than the bitterness. It makes for a very refreshing, daily brew. It's bright, floral and fruity with the smell and first taste, then finishes with a rich malt wash. It doesn't have exceptional mouthfeel or lacing, but the complex flavor and smell make this my recent go-to. It's not my favorite beer ever, but it's delicious for its price range, and I recommend it for anyone looking for an unusual and very drinkable IPA.
