A-Poured into a pint glass this definitely looks like a Belgian white...less than a finger of pure white head that quickly breaks down into just a skim layer. Fairly hazy and very lightly colored, its such a pale yellow there are tints of green when looking at this beer in the light. Reminds me of Hoegaarden.
S-Ok, now it no longer reminds me of Hoegaarden. There is wheat in there but it takes a back seat to the fresh aromatic hops, very fruity (definitely Citra), I think this is mostly hops but perhaps the Belgian yeast aroma is also adding to this nice fruity aroma. Just a hint of grass in there too. Nice aroma!
T-Yes this does taste like a white IPA. Wheaty and hoppy-the hop flavor is like the aroma. There is quite a bit of spice bite in here too. Coriander upfront and then you get the orange in the background with the hops having a strong influence on the overall taste. Plenty of different flavors in here, complex.
M-Plenty of carbonation, medium bodied, no unwanted alcohol burn. Finish is a bit long, exactly how I would expect a white IPA. Slightly astringent and mouthdrying.
O-I think I would enjoy this a bit more if it was less IPA and more Belgian white. But then again I absolutely love a good Belgian white and am not a big fan of IPAs. It has a really nice Belgian wit backbone. However, this is such an interesting brew I can see this one becoming quite popular given its uniqueness. Deschutes is so great at making the dark beers, this one in it's own way is such a well made beer I might have to give their other lighter beers a closer look. One of my absolute favorite breweries. I'm going to have to find a way to visit Bend. Well done!

I miss this beer. It was a straight up cross between a Belgian and your typical craft brew IPA: the soft feel and clove-y goodness from the Belgian mixing with the bitterness and pine flavor of the IPA

Had this on draft at the brewery.
A: pours bright, straw yellow body with small white head with nice retention and lacing
S: subtle lemon and citrus rind smell; complimenting of each other
T: piney, sweet lemon taste with a subtle, bitter and piney aftertaste; subtle earthiness
M: light, crisp, and refreshing
D: nice feel and taste combo; very well balanced beer; really good

Appearance: Pours a 70% clear, pale yellow color with a spotted white head. SRM of 7. (3.75)
Aroma: Strong aromas of orange/lemon citrus with spice. Also some pear and grape to support. The spice is Belgian with some coriander, but mild enough. (3.75)
Flavor: Flavors follows the nose with some mild lemon citrus, then comes some Belgian spice, followed by a herbal astringency. Ends with more Belgian spice of clove/coriander that is reminiscent of a wit, which also dries the beer. (3.75)
Feel: Medium-bodied. Low carbonation. Decent amount of Belgian yeast though to dry it on the palate. (3.50)
Overall: A pretty decent and mild Belgian IPA. As others have mentioned, it doesn't have an abundance of hops, but rather milder hops. This allows it to drink more similar to a wit with a citrus twist. The Belgian spice isn't too overpowering, but allows it to finish with a yeasty dryness. It's a decent beer. (Final Rating: 3.68)

Look: Hazy yellow with a decent head that quickly pulls back to a thin lid, leaving behind good lacing
Aroma: Wheat, coriander, orange peel, some clove, fruity esters, some citrusy and floral hop notes, and slight honey sweetness
Taste: Follows nose but the spice notes and hops blended with wheat set the tone. A ton of spice and floral layers along with some sweetness round out the middle and then finishes with a slight hoppy bite and clove-led spices
Mouthfeel: Soft and velvety but also some sharper feel initially and again at the finish. Medium-high carbonation and some mild dryness as well
Overall: This is good and unique. I remember when lots of breweries took stabs at brewing this hybrid style years ago and I always remembered this one was solid and it still is. A cool throwback beer and glad they re-released it as it was fun to revisit. Tasty interpretation of a ‘white IPA’ and recommended if you dig Witbiers as to me, the spice notes are very prominent in this one
