355ml bottle poured into an oversized wine glass.

Hazy yellow straw in color, decent white soapy head forms up with good retention. It gradually sinks to some everlasting foamy sheet atop along with plenty of sticky lacing patch and spot.

Banana ester, bold citrus, coriander, clove spice, peppery, herbal, mild bready malt.

Swept all over the taste buds by a big zesty citrus from hops, malt is also there underlying with a little sweet bready touch. In the middle until the end of tasting session, you will get banana ester, significant clove and coriander spiciness as typically found in Witbier while same time also experience some earthiness and a moderate pinch of bitterness alike AIPA. The aftertaste is left with a residual spice, slight nuttiness, and some bitterness.

Medium body, smooth mouthfeel with lively crisp and rather high carbonation, finish is dry and refreshing.

Interesting and worthy with a mix of Belgian Wit and American IPA by pulling the trademark characters of each style come into play, fruity ester and spiciness from Belgian side and clean yet pronounce bitterness from American side.

A: [3.25] Pale straw colored beer. Forms a pretty small (under a 1/4 finger) of white head. It was gone faster than I could type this far. The can lists the ABV (5.6%) and there is a best by date (08/02/2016).

S: [3.00] Clove, banana, lemon grass.

T: [2.75] Similar to the nose with clove, banana, some bubble gum. I don't get a lot of hops over these other flavors. There is a weird sort of soapy taste on the finish.

M: [3.50] The body is decent and the carbonation is right.

O: [3.00] This flavor profile is not my favorite. I dodge Belgian yeast strains because I don't like how they taste. I took a gamble on this one because I hoped the IPA part would impart more flavor. It didn't. This has a very clove forward Belgian beer flavor. Unfortunately it got more pronounced as I kept drinking.

L: Hazy yellow, light orange. Almost no head.
S: Banana, bright citrus
T: Banana/wheat/hefe initial taste. Hops comes at the end, a bit harsh and bitter, not too great.
F: Medium body, refreshing, but leaves you a bit sharp with the bitter aftertaste.

So I guess... white IPA, initial hefe but ends with hops and bitterness. Underwhelming combination, but nothing too bad about it; OK.

Nice bright white head covering an orangish yellow body. Citrus lemon nose with a sweet orange undertone. Restrained IPA without the bite that remains refreshing.

Pours golden hazy with a very nice white foam head, excellent retention. Aroma is of wheat and yeast, lots of spices. No hops. Taste is very refreshing, bitter with wheat notes and hops, medium bitterness. Bold body with high carbonation. Very drinkable white IPA really liked it.

Comes on like a combination of a witbier, radler and IPA. Excellent and refreshing. Cloudy pale golden body with fluffy white head. Aroma and taste is lemon, piney hops and white bread. Perfect summer beverage.

2/27...pours cloudy pale gold with heavy high white foam, lot of lacing. Wheaty corriander nose, almost like a hefe. Orange peels too. Smooth chalky taste, orange peel, peppery. Slight citrus. Subtle bitter.

A 12 fl oz bottle with a best by date of 13th May 2016 and poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

Appearance: It poured a cloudy pale golden colour with a one finger white head that dissipated quickly but leaves some nice lacing.

Aroma: Strong banana and bubblegum sweetness followed closely by some citrus and coriander.

Taste: Much like the aroma, there is strong banana, honey and bubblegum sweetness followed by some citrus orange and coriander and finishes with a light but lingering lemon zest bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with mid to high carbonation.

Overall: A good mix of Witbier and IPA. This was extremely drinkable and refreshing. I could definitely see myself drinking this quite a lot during hot summers.

12 oz. bottle into willibecher

A- Cloudy, blonde/white. Great white head, foamy, with great lacing. Retention great.

S- Refreshing, Belgian yeast, coriander and bright sweet citrus.

T- Sweet citrus, a little spice, and a light wheaty toast.

M- Light body, slight lingering hop bitterness. Carbonation just a little snappy.

O- Really nice. Hops are there but not overwhelming. Not usually my style, but this was good.

Not a big fan of the wheat beers, but I really liked this one. Nice balance between the hoppiness and the wheat twang. Had a vague fruitiness about it that would make this a great warm weather beer.

Mild orange appearance with 1/4" head on it, off white. Aroma was nice imparted more citrusy hops than anything else, avoided strong Belgian wit yeast presence.

Taste came up short though for hop flavors. Wheat was substantial. The taste really starts leaning away from the hoppiness in the aroma and stressing its wheat body and breadiness.

Was surprised they bottled this.

The pour was a crazy looking hazy lemon color with a fluffy white head.

Smell was some citrus and spice.

The taste followed with the citrus and coriander notes, biting the back of the tongue with peppery notes.

Mouth feel was medium with a slightly wet finish.

This was like a crazy combination of a Witbier and an IPA! Very imaginative brewing from a solid brewery. Just remember to leave some in the bottom of the bottle to swirl before pouring! Very nice and refreshing beer!

Best by 3/11/16. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a hazy pale straw color with a fluffy eggshell white head that fades leaving nice retention and sticky lacing. It smells very nice, but the hops are lacking. The aromas are clean and full of yeast. Lots of banana and bubblegum. Lots of citrus notes. Subtle earthy hop aromas. The flavors are nice, but subtle. More yeast. More banana and bubblegum. Lots of citrus notes. Some lemon and orange in the mix. Some fresh grass along with some hints of pine. It's not that bitter at all. Very clean and refreshing. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's light and very fluffy with moderate carbonation. Slightly creamy and very smooth.

This is a solid brew. It's more of a Belgian Pale Ale compared to a Belgian IPA. It's clean and refreshing. Balanced and smooth. It's nothing crazy, but it's simple and enjoyable.

Look:
1-2 finger head out of a 12oz. bottle. Hazy pale yellow/gold color. Head fades, but nice lacing and occasional larger bubbles continue.

Smell:
Very floral scent. Hops are very evident. Smells of pine, grass, spices, citrus, and earthy. Slight malt, like a Saison.

Taste:
Strong burst of bitterness and coriander at first, then a strong combination of hop and citrus flavors push through. It gets slightly sweet for a bit, but then it seems to move towards a bitter/sour acidic tang. The beer dries out and upon trailing out, the citrusy hop flavors come back. Belgian yeast flavors are very strong throughout. Biscuity and bready.

Feel:
Surprisingly medium. I assumed it would be on the lighter mouthfeel by color and style but feels fuller in the mouth.

Overall:
Really good. Fuller flavor than expected. Belgian yeast, citrus, and spices very apparent.

Pours a cloudy pale yellow with quickly dissipating 2 inch white head, leaves decent lacing. Smells of slight citrus with a hint of banana. Taste is quite similar to a farmhouse ale with banana showing up again. I get a slight off taste (metallic) on the finish.

Had a pint out of the tap while waiting for a flight at Sfo. Pale off yellow and white color with little head. Wheat, bread and orange peel taste. Light amount of carbonation. Not one of the better offerings from deschuetes

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 12/1/2015. Pours hazy bright golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon zest, grapefruit, tangerine, mango, pear, apple, coriander, pepper, clove, light banana, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, spices, citrus hops, and pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon zest, grapefruit, tangerine, mango, pear, apple, coriander, pepper, clove, light banana, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal bitterness/yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, mango, coriander, pepper, clove, light banana, wheat, cracker, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, spices, citrus hops, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/bready, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice White IPA style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, spices, citrus hops, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

I thought this was really good. I like the balance of hops, yeast and tropical fruit on the smell. The taste was a little yeasty and wheaty for what I was expecting, but still pretty good nonetheless.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a 16oz pint glass. Best by 12/22/15

L: thick, hazy gold in color with a fluffy white head that sticks to the glass for a long time. Quite a nice looking beer

S: wheat malt, spicy notes of that famous (infamous?) Belgian witbier yeast. Interesting pine hop aroma in the background.

T: starts off like a typical witbier; malted wheat sweetness complimented by notes of coriander. the IPA aspect is fairly light, providing some nice citric hop balance (lemon peel).

M: thick mouthfeel with a nice dry finish. very quenching

O: a typical white IPA. there is nothing here that will shock you but there is nothing offensive here either. A good beer for both IPA drinkers and people who might be interested in trying hoppy beers for the first time. I'm not a big fan of the style, personally. If I want a witbier I'll get a witbier. If I want an IPA I'll get an IPA l. No point in forcing the two together just because

Chainbreaker White IPA brewed by Deschutes Brewery, with an ABV of 5.60% This brew pours out a nice cloudy amber color with a small white head. This is an unfiltered brew you cannot see though this IPA. The smell of Chainbreaker White IPA is rich with citrus, hops, grains and malts. This white IPA has a real inviting smell to it. Now for the taste, it is bold with flavors. You pick up on the citrus and the hops right away. The end of this brew is nice and smooth. Chainbreaker White IPA has a lot going on in it, the look, smell, and flavors. There is nothing overpowering about this white IPA, it has a real nice balance to it. The mouth feel of Chainbreaker White IPA is bold at first, crisp in the middle and smooth at the end. This one of the style of IPA's that I really do enjoy. These white IPA's seem to have a decent balance of flavors. Overall I'm giving Chainbreaker White IPA a 4.25 out of 5. I would buy this brew again. Deschutes Brewery, brewery did a nice job on this one.

Bright yellow, hazy color with white head. Very intense aroma of coriander and some belgian yeast. Taste is not as intense. Starts like a typical belgian ale, gets into witbier territory in the middle and finishes quite bitter. The coriander is also lingering in the aftertaste. A nice beer overall but it's kind of missing the IPA part. It has a bitter finish but I would have liked a more hoppy aroma and taste too.

This looks, smells and tastes like a witbier to me. Very lemony/zesty, hints of coriander and other spices. Wheat, bready, yeasty. Very light. Very crushable. If you're looking for a hop assertive IPA, this is not for you. If you're looking for something nice and light with some decent flavor on a hot summers day....give it a shot.

Bought from my local liquor store.

Incredibly light for what is labeled as an IPA. Definitely very sweet, but with a subtle hops aftertaste. The sweetness however isn't very complex, and just feels like someone dumped a bunch of sugar into the beer.

As most Belgian-inspired brew, this is incredibly drinkable. And while I don't rate this outrageously high, I can definitely see myself drink quite a lot of this on hot summer days.

2 bottles poured into a 36oz goblet, just for the visual!

looks and smells like a hoegaarden. dark off yellow with minimal head. there is a hop bite but also a sour and sweetness to it. refreshing but not exactly what i'd expect out of a "Belgian IPA", closer to a hoppy witbier if that makes sense. good taste but not something i could drink all night
