12.7 oz. glass poured into tulip

L: mostly clear dark red with pink head of foam that just covers the top surface; clears up over time; keeps a tight pink collar of foam; almost no sticking or lacing

S: vinous and tart, fingernail polish, tart cherries in background; as it warms, the cherries add a bit of sweetness; funky barn must, wet sacks of grain left to dry kind of funk

T: mouth-puckering sour, lemons, hay, musty barn air; the flavor notes are there but the big sour flavor up front dominates; as the palate adjusts, a hint of tart cherries peeks in ... they add an earthy flavor that cuts some of the sour

F: lightweight, feels lightly carbonated, a bit watery -- works well for the style

O: intensely sour to begin with, and it takes awhile for the palate to adjust to allow some of the cherry flavor to show up; very complex with a lot of different notes competing for attention; a big sweet aroma seems to be locked up and hidden in the nose and never allowed to break loose, while the flavor is always more sour with the cherries adding much more earthy/tart flavor than sweetness; a true "sour" lover's kriek lambic -- there's no hint of syrup

Bottle from February 2013, so over three months age on it.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a Sixpoint tulip glass.

Pour is a deep burgundy, a lovely balance between light red and purple. Little to no head.

Aroma is slightly funky sour with a definite sweet fruit aroma.

Taste is very sour funky malt. Absolutely wonderful slight sweet cherry note at the end.

Great example of how good Belgian lambics can be.
