A 375ml corked and caged bottle with a notched Lotnr of H (not sure what this means). Then there are two dates. The first I translated from Dutch to: “to consume preferably before” 7th August 2027. The second I translated from French to: “best before” 7th August 2034. Not sure why there are two different dates for different languages. Poured into a Cantillon ballon glass.

Appearance: A lightly hazy dark golden orange colour with no head and no lacing.

Aroma: Oak, vinegar, acidity, strawberry and funky.

Taste: Sour, tart and acidic with notes of vinegar and berries.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with extremely low to no carbonation and quite a harsh acidic feel.

Overall: For me, this could use more carbonation. In addition, I wasn’t really getting much strawberries in the flavour, and any berry flavour I did get was quite light. The main thing though was the quite harsh acidity as each swallow felt a light burn on my throat.

Dark gold, no head, slightly hazy. 3.75
Strawberry, natch, but also vanilla, earth, cheese, and perfume, plus a bit of booze. 4.25
Slight cracker, hit of vinegar, hay, cheese rind, yellow plum, and grassy end. 3.75
Strawberry seed comeback.
Halfway to medium, clean, sharp. 3.75

Berry big on the nose, gone on the tongue. That lets the acetic plus some acetone come out. Being served too warm isn’t helping. Average lambic underneath, I suspect. Just falls short. 3.75

S: smells like funky strawberries and old socks. There is a moderate sour aroma with no hops, no enteric, no cigar, and no cheesy aromas.

L: amber with a slight red tint. There is a very slight haze and a thin, white, ephemeral foam cap.

T: big, tart fruity start on the palate dominated by strawberries and supported by a moderate lemony sourness. It finishes dry with a slight carbonic bite.

F: The carbonation is medium to medium low and the body is medium low.

O: This is a very refreshing beer with the tartness level of unsweetened lemonade.

Same chemical aroma and taste as their Experimental series. This one is the weirdest. I couldn't finish a single one out of the three.

ON tap at The Dog Street Pub in Williamsburg, VA. Hazy and a deep yellow gold in color. Lots of funkiness in the aromas, horsehide, barnyard, wet hay and more. Taste is nicely tart and sour with touches of overripened fruit. Delicious if this is your thing. Will hunt this one out again !

Reviewed from long-standing notes. Poured from a 375mL bottle into a Cigar City Humidor tulip glass.

Up front - there's no "pffft" at all after the cork is removed. This might not bode well...

A: Hazy gold. No head at all, no visible carbonation at all.

S: Moderately funky, barnyard and a touch of feet. Some strawberry fruity, tangy and sour.

T: Strawberries up front. Funky and barnyard and horseblanket with a moderate amount of lactic tartness. Cracker malt body in the background. A very dry and berry-tangy finish.

M: Has a light body, minimal alcohol presence. A very low amount of carbonation sensation, but this isn't completely flat.

O: A tasty offering from these guys, but not their best nor anything approaching best-in-class.

Deep golden color with no head. Aroma is fruity, kind of sweet with a slight chemical note. Taste is sour and fruity, slightly acidic with a nice strawberry note on the finish. Flat, slightly acidic body. Not bad but the mouthfeel could be better, it really needs some carbonation.

Bottled Jan 2011, 375ml bottle.

Slight hiss when I pulled the cork, it pours orange with small then disappearing head of foam.

The smell is very tart, fruity>, perhaps, kind of vinegar like with a healthy Brett presence.

The taste has notes of vinegar, sour fruit ie pear and apple. and a quite funky character.

Light body with very very light carbonation.

I like it and the $11 price tag didn't hurt too much.

12.7 ounce caged and corked bottle, bottled in May 2013. Served in a Prairie lambic glass, the beer pours a slightly hazy golden/orange color with a small white head that fizzled away quickly. Pretty much no lacing, either. Aroma is nice and tart, the brew smells like funk, strawberries, vinegar, oak and earthiness. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like funk, sweet and unripe strawberries, vinegar, earthiness, green apples, lemon and cheese. The tartness lingers around for a while in the finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and easy to drink. The Hanssens brews I've tried in the past have been hit or miss, but I thought this was good and I enjoyed the tartness. I'd like to try this again in the future.
