Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a quite hazy orange amber with a fine, two finger off-white head that contiues building for a long time after the pour, with pillowy lacing. Aroma dominated by smoked malt with hints of orange and light saison yeast, bit odd and vegetal. Flavor is mild saison yeast, bready malt all covered by nice spicy smokehouse with a hint of peat. Finishes semidry with a pleasant lightly orange residual smokiness. Peppery active carbonation and mouth feel. This does not have the intensity of the Aecht smoked beers, but does a superb job of delivering good smokiness without the hefty malt body of Aecht. The balance between the saison and smoke is just about perfect. A bit on the spritzy side with overactive carbonation, but I did not lose any opening the bottle, so all is forgiven. It's been a long time between new smoked beers and this was a great way to reintroduce myself. This is one of the world's stellar breweries.

A: Pours up a deep, hazy amber with a frothy, three finger, beige head.
S: Pepper and smoke jump out immediately, I have to admit it smells somewhat like burnt rubber, there are some subtle caramel malt notes peaking out from under the smoke though, but the presence of peated malt dominates.
T: The smoke dominates immediately with a subtle caramel malt sweetness following after, there are some pleasant fruity and tart undertones as well that come through. There are some definite understated cherry tart notes coming through here, the more this beer sits though, the more the personality of dupont yeast comes out, little by little, becoming more expressive. Some vanilla comes out, there are strong notes of graham cracker that come out as well.
M: Dry and crisp.
O: I wasn't in love with this initially, but it is so wonderfully expressive, a perfectly fascinating fall beer, it's savory, and honestly more worthy of contemplation than any dupont beer that I've had, and I love dupont beer. I would say don't sleep on this one, but to be honest I really don't think this beer is for everyone, if you don't like smoky beer, this won't change your mind, but if you do, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not trying this beer.

More interesting than great.
We expect DuPont to produce great saisons. Even this moderate smokiness makes comparisons difficult.
But many of their other saisons' features are present in Triomfbier.
It Looks pretty, but murky. While it Smells mostly of smoke to me, I pickup the scent of their house yeast working on the malts to make them fruity. The fruit has to compete with the smoked malt and the herbs/hops do not come through strong for the same reason. I don't mind that there is no horse blanket or funk. I prefer my saisons that way.
Would I have this again ? I think I'll go get another bottle right now and taste it alongside DuPont's classic.

Bottle shared at Pre-Borefts Ratebeer Tasting 2016. Clear orange pour with a white head. Yeast, spices, citrus. Medium body and carbonation and a bitter-sweet finish.

A: a dark golden pour with a solid head that lasts.
S: solid smell of the smokey peat. Undertones of a grassy wheat beer.
T: very pleasant smoke, that meshes well with an earthy version of a wheat beer. Very interesting combination that has a ton of depth. Easy to come back for more. Paired excellently with a fantastic meal.
M: perfect balance of carbonation. Lively upfront taste with an excellent smokey finish that really stands out amongst a ton of lesser beers.
O: really amazing smokey flavorful beer. Different than many standard beers with the because of the petty flavor but not overbearing. Really enjoyable.

Bottle: Poured a dark yellow color ale with a huge foamy head with perfect retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of subtle peat smoked malt notes with light cereal notes is quite enjoyable. Smokes become more and more apparent as beer temperature increase. Taste is a great mix between some smoked peat notes with some rustic cereal notes and some peppery yeast notes also noticeable in the aftertaste. Body is about average with good carbonation. Another great creation from Dupont with great balance and drinkability while maintain some complexity
